Digital Musical Synthesizer with Analog Control for Eurorack Platform
Klecl, Martin ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
This work explores the topic of digital audio signal processing for modular synthesizers and the design of digital oscillator for modular standard known as Eurorack. Introduction of the theoretical part is dedicated to basic terms and blocks used in modular synthesizers. The thesis also characterizes and presents the methods of sound synthesis. The second part of the theory concerns analog and digital signal conversion made by digital signal processors DSP, focusing on ARM with focus on ARM architecture. The practical part of the thesis concerns design and construction of the digital oscillator which generates periodic waveforms without aliasing distortion. The oscillator also allows several types of modulations and waveforming and the module has several inputs for connecting control voltages or external audio signals.
Analog Modular Synthesizer
Klecl, Martin ; Urban, Ondřej (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis explores the topic of analog modular synthesizers and the circuit designs used in these devices. The introduction of the theoretical part deals with the basic terminology of modular synthesizers and their history and classification. The thesis also presents and characterizes the methods of producing sound focusing on additive, subtractive and modulation synthesis. From the fundamental components of a subtractive synthesizer, the thesis describes a voltage controlled filter, voltage controlled oscillator, low frequency oscillator and voltage controlled amplifier. The practical part of the thesis concerns design and construction of these components into a single universal Eurorack format module. The results of the thesis comprise measurements of the parameters of each of the basic blocks of the synthesizer module.
L-band frequency converter for reception of the digital meteorological images
Bürger, David ; Frydrych, Jiří (referee) ; Záplata, Filip (advisor)
Down converter is a mixer which have a three ports. Two ports are refered as input ports and one port is ouput. One input port is connected to a signal which is transmited by meteorological satellites at frequency 1,7 GHz this frequency falls within the L–band. Meteorogical images are trasmited in L-band. The second input port is connected to a local oscillator in this case voltage control oscillator. The output signal includes sum and differential products, for down conversion is logically used differential product. Down conversion is used to convert data that are transmitted at high frequency to lower frequency which can be futher processed and then displayed data on the end device.
PC Controlled PLL Synthesizer
Málek, Miroslav ; Šrámek, Petr (referee) ; Vágner, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor´s thesis is a practical realization of computer controlled PLL synthesizer using USB serial port. FT232RL was used as an interface between the PLL synthesizer ADF4110 and PC. A software with graphical user interface was also developed in order to control registers of the syntesizer.
Control Unit for VHF Radio Receiver with Frequency Synthesizer
Sobotka, Martin ; Šebesta, Jiří (referee) ; Vyskočil, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this work is to propose the involvement of the control unit for receiving VHF radio and its practical implementation. Adding a panel on the appropriate tuner unit leads to a complete receiver to receive radio broadcasts. My work is to focus on two frequency bands: VHF band for broadcasting and VHF band for air radio communication. This paper describes a process of selection of component, their description and integration into a complete circuit, a description of the control program for the microcontroller and a description of control device. Scheme and the draft for the manufacture of printed circuit board is attached.
Frequency Synthesizers
Lapčík, Josef ; Špaček, Jiří (referee) ; Dřínovský, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis concerns with analysis and dividing of frequency synthesizers and design of DDS, PLL synthesizers. Base types of frequency synthesizers are described including differences between methods of their operation. Base circuits of both – DDS and PLL synthesizers and other important circuits are described in details at design part of this thesis. Design of DDS and PLL synthesizer is described in particular sections. Both synthesizers are directly realized and stand-alone control applications are created. PLL synthesizer is also ready to control thru Agilent VEE program environment. Particular example application is designed in Agilent VEE. This application is used as basis of attached lab project.
