How do plants manage to survive on toxic spoil-mining sites? Physiological and structural properties of plants on substrates with high As and Hg contents
Kovářová, Monika ; Albrechtová, Jana (advisor) ; Soudek, Petr (referee)
The heavy metals contamination of environment represents a worldwide problem lately. Heavy metals cause harmful effects not only to plants, but also to other organisms. Throught their acumulation in plant biomass, heavy metals enter a food chain and could negatively influence the human health. The impact of heavy metals on plants and their defence mechanisms against toxicity of heavy metals have been in focus of plant physiology and ecology research for decades. Importance of this topic arises from plant role in environment, ecosystem services and in human nutrition. Investigation in proces and mechanisms of heavy metal hyperacumulation in plants offer progress in fytoremediation and genetic engineering. The experiments on agricultural crops show how heavy metals enter the food chain and how they affect the crop yield. The aim of this thesis is to summarize information about heavy metals' effects on plants. The thesis is focused on arsenic and mercury, because the Czech Republic have also problem with heavy metals contamination and these two metals occur in high concentration in the spoil banks and soils adjacent to the lignite mining areas of Sokolovsko. The spoil banks with heavy metal content have to be revegatated, thus, the topic of their effect on plants is of high importance. In the first part of the...
Linguistic analysis of the "Travelbook" by Frederick from Donín
Lehne, Eva ; Andrlová Fidlerová, Alena (advisor) ; Rejzek, Jiří (referee)
The thesis analyses selected phenomena of graphy, phonology, morfology, lexicology and words-formation of the Frederick from Donin's Czech book of travels, which was written at the turn of the 16th and 17th century. Partly, it also deals with the syntax and style of the work. Selected phenomena of individual language levels are studied using the original manuscript. The thesis intends to show in which aspects the text is close to early modern language usage, and conversely in which aspects it differs from it. The language of the manuscript is also compared with the contemporary Czech language.
Formability of Thin Steel Sheets Coated with Anodized Aluminum
Hušek, Martin ; Suchánek, Jan (referee) ; Spišák,, Emil (referee) ; Dvořák, Milan (advisor)
Thesis deals with the design of the technological process of anodic oxidation (creating elox coating) on aluminium film in the system steel-aluminium-elox, with the findings of characteristics of this system, comparing with the contemporary knowledge and practical utilization of this system in practice. My thesis in the teoretical part describes creating of anodic oxidation (elox coating) and the process of bending and stretching the sheet. Theoretical aspects of interaction among elox finish, process of bendings and process of stretching are implemented in the experimental part and they are supported by identified knowledge and results. The practical part is focused on improving adhesion, designing and constructing a multifunctional bending product for testing resistance of the finish applied on a tested product. Under the terms of determination distributing deformation and tension in bended coated plate, this plate is tested by statistic analysis with the help of the Finit Element Method (FEM) in the programme ANSYS. The experimental part compares discovered results of each experiment in the system steel – aluminium – elox with the results of aluminium plates with elox finish, stainless plates and steel plates with aluzinc.
System STYX in Schools: a Pilot Study
VESELÁ, Lucie
The aim of my bachelor's thesis is the description of a system called STYX. I would like to characterize the pilot release of this system to the school praxis and the processing of the information of the feedback from the given pilot study which is addressed to the authors of the STYX. The STYX is a system designed to provide an electronic corpus-based exercise book of Czech morphology and syntax with exercises directly selected from the Prague Dependency Treebank, the largest annotated corpus of Czech texts. The system was created in ÚFALu MFF UK under leadership of dr. Barbora Vidová Hladká, viz http://ufal.mff.cuni.cz/styx/. The bachelor's thesis is designed as a study with two main moments: the first one is the release of the STYX into two hours of teaching at secondary school in Trhové Sviny and the analysis of the results of my work with this system at school. The second moment represents the processing of the feedback from this release of the system STYX to praxis for the team of researchers from ÚFALu MFF UK.
The Linguistic Characteristics of a Baroque Legend
DOLEŽALOVÁ, Zdeňka
Main topic of this work is to analyze language elements used in the legend from baroque period and that from the complete conception on the gross information contents this work and characteristic features of phonetics and morfology. No research in the field of syntax and lexicology was made at this point (our final work would be to extensive). The complete interpretation refers to father Jiří David´s baroque legend Medicus Hercinius, {\dots} dated 1713. First part we apply to common informations about the author, about the period, in which he lived and wrote his legend, and about his contemporaries. We describe the legendistic literature and conditions to her expansibility in our country, the life of saint Gunther then and the substance of whole David´s work in general. There are important informations about noted humanismus and baroque authors in next two chapters. We describe individual phenomens of two language levels phonetics and morfology then, especially with regard to theory and practice. Principal aim of my work is to contribute to o deeper understanding of Czech language from the late baroque.
