The title of the bachelor thesis : Idioms, proverbs and comparisons in a comparative study Key words : Folk literature, idioms, proverbs, comparisons, folk sayings, rhetorics, Czech- French comparative study The bachelor thesis called Idioms, proverbs and comparisons in a comparative study is a comparative study of two languages - French and Czech. The main aim of this work is to find differences between French and Czech sayings. The thesis is divided into several thematically separated parts. A term folk literature will be introduced in the beginning and particular terms will be chosen for further examination. The thesis will deal with idioms, proverbs, folk sayings and comparisons, and their history, meaning and use in French and Czech language will be the object of this work. Another part of the thesis will be focused on categories close to idioms, such as maxims, sentences and rhetorics. In the end the author will try to find new forms of idioms. The goal of the thesis is a linguistic comparative study, in which particular French and Czech idioms will be found and compared.

This bachelor thesis consists of two parts. It deals with the translation of three chosen chapters from Eowyn Ivey's debut novel The Snow Child. The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the problems one might encounter during such translation, demonstrating these on examples taken from the practical part. To justify the choices, theories of Dagmar Knittlová and Jiří Levý were used. 1

This bachelor thesis is focused on translating from the English language into the Czech language. It consists of two parts. In the practical part there is my translation of two chapters - the first and the last one - of the novel The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie written by the British author Muriel Spark. The theoretical part incorporates the stylistic analysis of the translated text and the justification of the vocabulary used. It is based on several theoretical books about translation, mainly those by Dagmar Knittlová and Jiří Levý.

The author of this thesis endeavours to create a comprehensive portrait of Hanuš Bartoň, a Czech contemporary composer, pianist, and academic educator. The thesis is focused on his compositions and his contribution as a pianist and a teacher with the aim to establish a practical source of information. This source ought to fulfil both its musicological potential, especially concerning the analysis of Czech classical music of the end of the 20th century up till now, as well as its potential in the field of education, noting Bartoň's works for children and his academic pedagogical contribution. The thesis is systematically organised into several parts. The main body starts with the composer's biography. The attention then moves to his compositions, which are systematically presented and commented on from the perspective of Bartoň's musical style development and its tendencies. His works adhere to the postmodern ideal considering the fact that the music deals in a specific way with the synthesis of stylistic elements. The scope of his oeuvre is relatively wide.
