Inspection of welded joints of loading ramps

This master's thesis is focused on problem of welding of loading ramps and inspection of their welded joints. The aim of this thesis is to inspect the welds of loading ramps with regarding to the appearance of defects. The literature review of the research issues of the MIG welding technology and welding of aluminium and its alloys is described in this thesis. There is also described destructive and non-destructive inspection of welds that can be applied to inspection of loading ramps. Theoretical description is followed by an experimental part of the thesis. Experimental part is focused on the three destructive tests (the tensile, the macroscopic and the hardness test) of samples of loading ramps, which are made of EN AW-6005A T6.
Options for increasing the efficiency of small motors.

This bachelor thesis concerns itself with the possibilities of achieving higher efficiency of small asynchronous motors and their manufacturing costs. The following chapters describe the design, function and principles of speed regulation of the asynchronous motor. Next, losses that occur during motor operation and ways of reducing them, are described. The last chapter of the thesis addreses factors that influence the manufacturing costs of the asynchornous motor and evaluates the material costs of one modified motor.
Machining of aluminum alloys

Bachelor thesis is focused on manufacturing of component YZ-RIGEL in Frentech Aerospace s.r.o. factory. The component is destined for the aerospace industry, specifically for the Airbus A350. The theoretical part of the thesis analyzes the base of aluminum alloys as well as the machinery park of the company. The CNC centers MCFV 1060 and PICOMAX® 95, on which the part is manufactured, are discussed in more detail too. The practical part deals with creation of production process including toolbars. The end of the thesis is devoted to calculation of machine time needed for the component production.
Oxidation behavior adjustment for TiAl intermetallics by Al-Y multilayers

Mechanické vlasnosti intermetalika na bázi titan hliník Ti-46Al-7Nb-0.7Cr-0.1Si-0.2Ni jsou konstatní do teploty 700 °C. Nad touto teplotou slitina oxiduje. Cílem této práce bylo zlepšit oxidační vlastnosti pomocí kovové multivrstvy na bázi yttrium hlinik. Pro depozici vrstev byla použita metoda PVD. Na vzorky byly naneseny vrstvy čistého ytria nebo kombinace yttrium, hliník. Vzorky byly následně žíhány v inertní atmosféře na 700°C a 900°C nebo nebyly. Kvalita nanesených vrstev byla zkoumána pomocí scratch testu a EDS analýzi. Dále byly vzorky izotermicky oxidovány na 900°C po dobu 100 hodin. Na vzorcích byly po oxidaci prováděny měření pevnosti v tříbodovém obybu a měření hmotnosti. Chemické složení oxidické vrstvy bylo vyhodnoceno pomocí EDS. Žádná z vrstev s nebo bez žíhání neprokázaly zlepšení oxidických vlastností. Vyšší teplota žíhání prokýzala zlepšení mechanických vlastnotí vrstvy, ale zhoršení materiálu.
Designing and Producing a Differential Holder and Eccentric for a Formula Student Racing Car Using Workshop Oriented Programming and Modern CAD/CAM Technologies

The present master thesis deals with the application of workshop programming and advanced CAD / CAM technology to the design and production of differential holder and eccentric of Formula Student car. The first part characterizes and describes the technology of milling, drilling and boring. There is also a selection of material to be machined, including the characteristics of aluminium and its alloys. The following section describes the construction of differential holder and eccentric in the parametric program Autodesk Inventor and creation of CNC programs using the workshop programming and CAM of PowerMILL system. The conclusion section refers to the production of both components in the training centre BOSCH DIESEL s.r.o in Jihlava. The thesis is concluded with a technical-economic evaluation and analysis of both proposed production variants.
Advanced metallographic techniques for aluminum and its alloys

Hlavním cílem této práce je optimalizovat metalografickou přípravu hliníku pro specifické potřeby rastrovací elektronové mikroskopie. Rastrovací elektronová mikroskopie je velice citlivá na kvalitu připraveného povrchu a základní metody přípravy užívané pro světelnou mikroskopii jsou nedostatečné. Práce se zaměřuje na optimalizaci a hledání nových metalografických metod, které splňují vysoké požadavky rastrovací elektronové mikroskopie. Povrch musí být připraven co nejkvalitněji, bez defektů a artefaktů z přípravy. Jako testovací materiál pro experimenty byl vybrán čistý hliník. Základní a pokročilé metody přípravy byly experimentálně testovány a nejvíce slibné postupy poté optimalizovány. Několik různých variant přípravy povrchu bylo vyzkoušeno v rámci metod koloidních silik a elektrolytického leštění. Připravený povrch byl následně zkoumán pomocí světelné mikroskopie, rastrovací elektronové mikroskopie s nízkými urychlovacími napětími a konfokální mikroskopie. Závěrem byl stanoven optimální metalografický postup vyhovující vysokým požadavkům elektronové mikroskopie a zajišťující připravený povrch s minimem defektů.
Micro and nanocomposites in the microstructure of metallic materials

This bachelor thesis focuses on the field of metal matrix nanocomposites. Firstly, the research covers the general mechanical characteristics of materials utilized in nanocomposites. Subsequently, the research defines the mentioned matrix and its different types, that are regularly applied during the production of nanocomposites. Secondly, the research analyses the types of reinforcing (strengthening) components and their use in matrix advancement. This will further lead to introducing the individual mechanisms that reinforce nanocomposites. Thirdly, this research describes the methods employed in the production of nanocomposites – both continuously or discontinuously reinforced. Moreover, the focus shifts to the individual types of materials that satisfy the required characteristics of composites. This outlines the specific types of composites created by the reactions within the materials. Finally, the research summarises the benefits of using nanocomposites.
Influence of location of Al castings in a heat treatment furnace on mechanical properties

The present Master thesis deals with location of aluminium castings in the heat treatment furnace and its influence on mechanical properties. As testing samples for the experimental part, tensile bars were used; they were cast from the subeutetic silumin AlSi7Mg0,6. These samples were placed in the furnace in the locations where temperatures were calibrated by the furnace supplier. Then, tensile tests were performed to evaluate the resulting mechanical properties of the samples. The experiment was carried out in the foundry of non-ferrous metals, MESIT foundry Ltd., Uherské Hradiště.
Production technology for a vacuum mold

The master thesis deals with the design and production of the mold for vacuum forming. Specifically, how the existing and new mold materials affect their design and, consequently, their production technology. The thesis contains a brief description of the principle of vacuum molding. Technological and design principles of designing molds. Furthermore, the realization of the solution variants and the simulation of their production. The solved variants are subsequently evaluated from a technical and economic point of view.
