The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with concepts related to the subject of bachelor thesis. The first chapter focuses on age and types of dementia. The second chapter describes Alzheimer's disease. In the third chapter there are a characteristic of home care provided by family members and several essential advice for carers. The fourth chapter focuses on care in a special home, caregivers, and activities that can take place in the home. The aim of this work was to compare the views of selected family members on various types of senior care with Alzheimer's disease. The aim of the thesis is to answer the identified research questions. The first research question focuses on which of Alzheimer's manifestations are most complicated for family members. The second research question examines how the views of family members differ on care when a senior is in their home care or in special-purpose homes. In the empirical part of the bachelor thesis is used the method of qualitative research in the form of questioning in a semi-structured interview. The research group consists of 8 respondents caring for their family member with Alzheimer's dementia. Results are analyzed using open encoding. Research shows that the views of family members are not very different. Caregivers agree that they want to get the best care for their family member, whether in the home or in a home with a special regime. As far as prospects for the future are concerned, only minor differences can be found in the respondents' opinions. The answers to the first research question are almost identical. Respondents report that the most complicated manifestations of illness include non-recognition, loss of memory, disorientation and aggression.
The View of Family Members on Care Options for the Elderly with a Disability
RAJCHOTOVÁ, Veronika
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic related to the choice of a care about a senior. The theoretical part specifies the terms senior and disability and focuses on the issues of a senior and his/her family and the related multigenerational living, family care about seniors, health-social care about seniors and also on specific services for seniors. The empiric part was based on a structured interview, in which 8 multigenerational families living in one household from the Týn nad Vltavou region were addressed. We looked into the opinions of family members and seniors on the possibilities of the care about a senior in the research and consequently we compared their responses. The bachelor thesis reflects the difference between the opinions of seniors and family members with regard to the possibilities of the provision of care about a senior. Care provision in the natural setting is the wish of a senior, but this wish is not always identical with the opinion of a family member. Lack of information among the respondents leads to fears of institutional facilities or incorrect information and notion of the stay in such a facility. The lack of information was also obvious in the instance of the possibility of providing care to a senior when the family members rather showed worries in most cases. The respondents should thus be more aware of the possibilities of the care about a senior to be able to ensure a dignified old age for a senior, lived according to his/her ideas, so that it benefits the whole society.
Taking care of family members of a dying client in a home for the eldelrly.
ZIMOVÁ, Eva
People usually die in hospitals, at subsequent care departments and in retirement homes nowadays. Ill people die alone outside the comfort of their homes and in the care of professionals, who are strangers for them. Dying has become an institutionalized process. Dying is first of all a process that consists of three known periods of different length, which are linked together the pre finem, in finem and post finem periods. They are described in chapter 2. Chapter 3 describes the mental response stages according to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross in the usual order as the mostly occur. The fourth chapter mentions the needs of the dying and the role of a nurse in their satisfaction. Communication with family members is probably the most demanding activity for a nurse. Communication and its principles is dealt with by the fifth chapter. The sixth chapter describes the phases of grief according to Kubíčková (2001), but also the uncomplicated and complicated grief. The assistance to the family is described in the seventh chapter. A subchapter is also dedicated to counselling for the bereaved. The load on nurses in relation to dying is mentioned at the end of chapter eight. The last, ninth chapter describes a retirement home and the services it provides. The first goal was to examine the readiness of healthcare staff to communicate with the family members of dying clients. The second goal was to find the spheres in which the family members of a dying client need advice. The third goal was to examine the services provided to the family members of a dying client by a retirement home. The research questions:How are general nurses able to cope with communication with the family of a dying patient? What topics do general nurses avoid in communication with the family of a dying patient? What advice are general nurses able to give to the bereaved? What possibilities do retirement homes have to ensure dying with dignity? What services do retirement homes provide?Qualitative research in the form of semi structured interviews was chosen for elaboration of the empiric part of the thesis. The interviews were based on prepared questions and sub questions for general nurses from two retirement homes. One of them is in the South Bohemia Region and the other in the Central Bohemia Region. The sample consisted of eight general nurses. The interviews were recorded in written and then processed into individual categories. The names of the facilities are not mentioned to ensure anonymity. The thesis gives an insight into two addressed retirement homes in different regions. The research has brought the view on the care of family members and valuable comparison of the provided services and the possibilities of the homes. Communication with the family is in some situations unpleasant and stressing for a nurse, however it is frequent and inevitable. The research shows that informing of worsened state and client's death is most unpleasant and stressing. General nurses should be better aware of the phases of dying according to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and they should realize that the family members go through the same phases. We have also found that if family members are not offered assistance and support, they usually do not ask for it. Both the homes are trying to create the environment for dying with dignity according to their possibilities. They offer unlimited visits, spiritual services and also the possibility of the last goodbye, however it is not offered automatically. The choice of funeral service is on the other hand always offered at the death notification. There are differences between the two homes in the environment where the care of the death body is taken, where the last goodbye is held and the inheritance passed. One home has the possibility to care about the deceased in a dedicated room, where also the last goodbye and inheritance passing is held. The other home does not have this possibility.

The role of nurse and family members in discharging of immobile patiens
PŘIBYLOVÁ, Radka
This thesis deals with immobile patients´ defecation. Even though people feel ashamed to speak about this delicate and intimate problem it should be concerned with. Healthy diet, drinking regime, exercises adequate to patient´s age and fitness, stress elimination and defecation reflex training seem to be the best prevention to the problem as the laxative treatment of subsequent complications is less suitable. The research survey was firstly aimed at mapping the role of nurses who take care of immobile patients´ defecation and the obstacles they face and secondly, at the role of family members and the financial means which they are able to spend on such care. The findings of the research survey fully result from the interviews with six nurses working at the long-stay ward and six family members of the patients staying at the long-stay ward of the Hospital in Jindřichův Hradec,a.s.. At the same time six patients of this ward were observed. The charge nurse provided the permit to do the research and the ward sister was informed orally. The analysis of research findings led to making up an information leaflet which instructs patients in keeping healthy diet so that they can avoid defecation problems. The research survey findings will be offered to the staff of the hospital long-stay ward where the survey was run to help them improve the care of immobile patients.

JÍLKOVÁ, Veronika
Medical workers, patients and family members are three groups, which often meet in demanding and critical situations, which they tend to experience in different ways. That is why the inforamtion leak may occur and also the basic conditions are not met (and this applies not only to clients, but also to specialists). Nurses should be opened to communication with family members and regularly offer them the exchange of informations. If the family comes with new ideas, we should be able to find a way to transform them into our profession. We should be able to counsel the family on where to get help or additional informations, or coordinate them. The cooperation between medical workers and family members creates the sanctuary of peace, where the patient and his family feel much better then they used to in the times, when profesionals used to be too much authoritative The subject of my bachelors work is the cooperation between nurses, family members and clients hospitalizated on the ward of internal medicine. The vital informations were collected using the method of answering sheets, which were filled in by the nurses working on the ward of internal medicine and by the relatives of hospitalized clients on the ward of internal medicine of the České Budějovice Hospital. Hypothesis No. 1: `` The Hypothesis that the nurses in the internal department perceive the presence of the hospitalized patients{\crq} family members positively{\crqq} was confirmed.
