Manufacturing, structure and properties of cast iron with globular graphite produced on electric furnaces

The diploma thesis deals with the technology of production of ductile iron with lower production costs. The thesis takes into account quality in terms of internal structure and mechanical properties. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part is about theoretical analysis of the topic of graphite cast irons with a more detailed discussion of the chemical composition, structure and properties of ductile iron. The experimental part deals with the production of ductile iron on electric arc and induction furnaces with different metall charging. Subsequently, the structures and mechanical properties of the ductile iron produced on these two melting aggregates are compared. An important part of this work is also an economic evaluation, where the proposed variants are compared in terms of metall charging and used melting aggregates.
Graphitic cast iron and the influence of magnesium on its structure and properties

The bachelor thesis deals with types of graphitic cast iron and their metallurgical treatment with magnesium. In the practical part of the thesis, an experiment is performed in which there are cast samples of graphitic cast iron with different amount of modifier, in which mechanical properties and structure are observed.
Utilization of Thermal Analysis for Casting Quality Prediction by Means of Numerical Simulation

This work deals with problem of analyzing cooling curves of ductile iron and discovering possibility to predict shrinkage tendency of melt from thermal analysis results. This work was executed in foundry production conditions where obtained data from thermal analysis data linked to experimental castings where amount of shrinkage was estimated. Data were analyzed and looked for correlations between acquired thermal data and shrinkage defects.
Optimation of inoculation process of ductile iron

The master‘s thesis deals in theoretical part with the casting classification, ductile iron casting, its inoculation and modification and quality evaluation using thermal analysis, image analysis and testing of mechanical properties. The aim of the practical part was to test the effects of preconditioning on the properties of ductile iron and to find out whether it is able to replace the current method of inoculation or to increase the mechanical properties of ductile iron castings. The state of the ductile iron was under control by spectral and thermal analysis. The mechanical properties and image analysis were checked on finished casting.
Quality control of the iron castings in the foundry

This bachelor thesis deals with the properties of castings with ductile iron and gray iron. The theoretical part was focused on knowledge related to chemical composition, mechanical properties and monitoring of internal defects. In the experimental part, the structure is evaluated in non-etched and etched state. It compares with the chemical component and the mechanical properties with the literature. X-ray frames are monitored for internal defects. In conclusion, the results of the experiments are summarized and measures are proposed to improve the casting quality.
Technology of Production Parts Console

This thesis describes the complete technology solution of front driving axle console production by machining. The console is part of the self-supporting structure of the tractor and is produced under conditions of large engineering company. Introduction describes the prduction technology of component. The main part is devoted to the technological process of production and selection of appropriate cutting tools. Technical and economical evaluation of machined part is mentioned in the conclusion of thesis.
Making of ADI iron

This paper work is aimed at description of the mentioned material, perspective and trends of its development, inclusive of production problems and production possibilities. The purpose of the paper work is also to focuse on a comparison of mechanical properties of using material ADI cast iron with other using materials for various aplications. Furthermore there is described technological progression production ADI cast irons and its heat treatment and influence of legury elements on its mechanical properties.
Mathematic model for prediction of the ductile iron structure

The paper deals with a original thermodynamic model of growth of graphite in spheroidal graphite cast iron. The model, which is based on the using of equations of mathematic physics and of thermodynamic, diffusion and phase data, describes of graphite growth in liquid and solid phase of Fe-C-M system.
