Štěpánková, Pavlína ; Hejlová, Helena (advisor) ; Poche Kargerová, Jana (referee)
The method of didactic games is a popular means of modern pedagogical practice. This thesis deals with the effectiveness of this method in the following five selected parameters: fun, usefulness, interest in the material, mastery of the discussed material, reflection on own competences. To do this, it uses a combination of different procedures, quantitative and qualitative data collection by questionnaire, measurement by quiz and unstructured observation. As a result, the work fulfils the principle of triangulation. The thesis has a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical background is drawn from domestic professional sources on didactic play and developmental psychology. The concept of didactic play, the division of didactic games, the developmental specifics of the fifth grade student, and the planning, management, and evaluation of instruction from the teacher's perspective are discussed. The practical part first defines the research objectives and questions, the research population, the methods used and research ethics, followed by the presentation of the results. The results section of the paper first deals with the processing of the quantitative data from the survey, followed by the processing of the qualitative data. The results section concludes with the presentation of the case...
Reproductive system in Human biology lessons at secondary school
NAVRÁTILOVÁ, Adéla
This diploma thesis deals with the topic of teaching the human reproductive system at secondary schools both in the Czech Republic and in selected German federal states, Bavaria and Saxony. The aim was first to discover the differences in teaching the reproductive system among the chosen countries and secondly to create own teaching units regarding this topic and utilize them in classes. The differences between Czech, Saxon, and Bavarian types of teaching were supported by curricular documents and a questionnaire distributed among teachers from selected countries. Czech curricular documents outline the teaching of the reproductive system more briefly compared to the German ones. The questionnaire provided specific information incorporating the methods used in teaching. Furthermore, this diploma thesis contains two fully designed teaching units, including both materials for students and methodological instructions for teachers. The practical implementation of the proposed teaching units is evaluated at the very end of this thesis.
An Educational Game in Teaching First Aid at Lower Secondary Level
PODLEŠÁKOVÁ, Nikol
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to create three authorial didactic games on the topic of first aid for pupils of the second stage of elementary school. The games were created with the aim of acquiring and consolidating knowledge in the topic of first aid. The author of the work used games to teach pupils at the second stage of elementary school in a city located in the Pilsen Region in Šumava in an experimental group in class 9.A with 15 pupils and, on the other hand, in the school the same for the same topics in the control group in class 8.A with 20 pupils teaching conventional. The implementation of the teaching and the time allocation of the topic were practically the same for both groups. In connection with teaching, the author of the thesis created a test that pupils filled in just before the lesson, just after the lesson and after fourteen days after the lesson (Pretest, Posttest I. and Posttest II.). Another necessary requirement was a questionnaire for all pupils, also prepared by the author, which served for the evaluation of teaching and teaching pupils. Data obtained from tests and questionnaires were statistically evaluated. The evaluation of the Pretest showed an average score of 8.70 +- 2.41 points in the control group with a success rate of 51.2 % and in the experimental group of 9.67 +- 2.02 with a success rate of 56.9 %. In Posttest I., the control group achieved 15.05 +- 1.39 points with a success rate of 88.5 % and the experimental group 15.33 +- 1.99 points with a success rate of 90.2 %. In Posttest II., the first group received an average of 13.85 +- 3.47 points with a success rate of 81.5 % and the experimental group 13.80 +- 2.08 points with a success rate of 81.2 %. Using the evaluation of the Student's test and the ANOVA test, the author found that the difference between the results of the three tests was not evaluated as statistically significant. Student's test: Pretest - p = 0.83, Posttest I. - p = 0.53 and Posttest II. - p = 0.34 and test ANOVA: p = 0.88. The assessment of teaching by pupils was evaluated in the control group with an average mark of 1.40 +- 0.60 and in the experimental group 1.27 +- 0.57. The difference in mean values between the groups using the Student's test was not evaluated as statistically significant (p = 0.61). The teacher's assessment had an average mark of 1.20 +- 0.52 in the control group and 1.07 +- 0.25 in the experimental group. The difference in averages using the Student's test was not statistically significant (p=0.74). Although the currently valid Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education (FEP BE) does not pay much attention to the target group of first aid, the pupils of the mainstream school evaluated the topic and the way of transmitting information very positively. The first two games can force pupils to think about objective situations, and in the third game they become part of simulations, with each pupil trying out their authentic behavior in a given situation.
Using STEAM in Teaching of Selected Topics in Human Biology at Lower Secondary Level
NEUBAUEROVÁ, Marcela
The aim of the diploma thesis was to create six original didactic games enriched with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) elements for primary school pupils and to test them in practice. Four didactic games were primarily created for the purpose of knowledge acquisition (skeletal system, muscular system and circulatory system topics) and two didactic games were created for the purpose of knowledge consolidation. The didactic games were tested in a mainstream primary school located in a South Bohemian city with a population of around 100 000. The validation in practice was carried out by means of a pretest, a posttest I and a posttest II. As a follow-up, selected students were assigned to independently develop their own games using the game principles they had been taught in class (using all STEAM elements).
Teaching about Human Endocrine System at Elementary School
KLOKOČKOVÁ, Markéta
The main goal of the bachelor thesis was to create five original didactic games on the topic of the human endocrine system for pupils of the 2nd grade of primary school. The didactic games were created in order to consolidate the basic knowledge and to acquire extension and supplementary knowledge.Teaching through the didactic games and conventional teaching were used at a mainstream primary school located in the Central Bohemian Region, in a town with a population of 1 to 8 thousand, after the consultation with the school administration and the subject teacher. The control and experimental groups were tested using pretest, posttest I and posttest II.
Educational computer game, its creation and use in practicing chemical element symbols
NOVÁK, Zbyněk
The bachelor's thesis deals with the creation and use of an educational computer game (quiz game) in teaching inorganic chemistry, specifically in practicing the symbols of chemical elements, especially for students in the second grade of primary schools and lower grades of multi-year grammar schools. Educational game aims to motivate and activate students as well as develop interdisciplinary relationships. Pupils get acquainted not only with scientific knowledge, but also with practical and general knowledge in an attractive quiz form.
Educational computer game, its creation and use in teaching geochemistry
BARTŮŠKOVÁ, Jenifer
This diploma thesis is focused on the creation and use of educational computer games in teaching geochemistry at the second grade of primary school. The aim of this game is to pass on appropriate knowledge to students in an attractive way, to develop interdisciplinary relations, their internal motivation and key competences. The game is localized in well-known places of Šumava and the player is informed about its local geographical and historical attractions. The theoretical part is based on analysis of professional literature. Findings of this analysis are the theoretical framework of knowledge for the following practical part, in which the educational game is created and verified in practice. The research was conducted online and its results are discussed in the final part of the work. Based on the feedback from the students, possible modifications of the test version of the game were suggested.
Didactic games and their inclusion to physics teaching at basic school
PÍŠA, Adam
The bachelor's thesis entitled "Didactic games and their inclusion in the teaching of physics at elementary school" describes the possibility of educating students in selected physics lessons in a playful way. The work focuses mainly on the refreshment of basic knowledge of individual physical disciplines, necessary for a proper understanding of the subject matter in secondary schools. In the first part we will focus on the theoretical description of games, its concept, important aspects and features. Next, a list of used parts of physics will be presented with a brief commentary on why this part was selected and which specific topics will appear in the second part. The second part contains examples of individual didactic games with a physical theme, in which the physical disciplines described above are used. The last game is a "roleplaying game", which is intended for future graduates of elementary schools as a playful form of repetition of physical knowledge acquired during physics classes. Finally, the process of creating this work, the expected results and a summary of the presented opinions will be evaluated.
An Educational Game in Teaching Human Phylogeny and Ethnic Anthropology
TUROŠÍKOVÁ, Nicola
An aim of this bachelor's thesis was to create three author's didactic games on the topics of human phylogeny and ethnic anthropology. A verification of the games was taking place in two parallel eighth grades at a regular elementary school. Pupils filled in a pretest before teaching, whose results showed that the classes had not differ statistically significantly in their knowledge of the selected topics. The class, in which the teaching took place through didactic games (an experimental group), was chosen randomly. The second class was taught in a classical way (a control group). The pupils filled in a posttest I on the same day after teaching and a posttest II after a month from that teaching. This was the same non-standardized didactic test.
