Evaluation of the introduced range 5.varietes dogwood on the experimental area ŠZP Žabčice. A review of literature focused on the origin of the species, growth characteristics.
Vitamin C
Juráňová, Jana ; Hrstka, Miroslav (referee) ; Vespalcová, Milena (advisor)
The theme of this diploma thesis is an assessment of given nutritional parameters in selected kinds of lesser known fruits, specifically 10 varieties of sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.), 12 varieties of cornelian cherry (Cornus mas L.) and 6 varieties of blue honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea var. kamtschatica). Harvests of two consecutive years (2011 and 2012) were analyzed in the case of blue honeysuckle. The theoretical part was focused on historical, morphological, taxonomic and nutritional aspects of individual plants and food or pharmaceutical utilization. The considerable part of the thesis is devoted to the characterization and the possibilities of determining the contained substances, namely ascorbic acid and polyphenolic compounds, especially anthocyanins. The content of the experimental part was a description of the methods and the results of the analysis of total solids, titratable acidity, total phenolics, total anthocyanins and ascorbic acid in fruits of the selected varieties of the above mentioned fruit species. Based on the measured results, the different varieties of fruits were compared to each other and evaluated.
Comparison of vitamin C content between less known kinds of fruit
Mařáková, Veronika ; Hrstka, Miroslav (referee) ; Vespalcová, Milena (advisor)
This thesis deals with the determination of vitamin C in different varieties of cornelian cherry (Cornus mas) and mountain ash (Sorbus aucuparia). The theoretical part describes the botanical characteristics of both plants, the extension in the CZ and in the world, methods of reproduction, the content of meaningful health substances and the importance of both plants in food-processing industry. Attention is paid to vitamin C, which is in their fruits in high quantity. Conclusion of the theoretical part discusses various methods of determination of vitamin C. The aim of the experimental part was to comparison of the vitamin C content in different varieties cornelian cherry and mountain ash. The chosen method for the determination of vitamin C by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detection was first tested on standards. Selected validation parameters of this method was then determined. Validated method was used to determine the content of vitamin C in nine varieties cornelian cherry and six varieties of the mountain ash. For comparison were also tested some samples of the determination of total vitamin C after reducing dehydroascorbic acid by using dithiothreitol (DTT).
Fruit utilizing occasion of less knowing bushes
Mařáková, Veronika ; Vránová, Dana (referee) ; Vespalcová, Milena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with cornelian cherry (Cornus mass). The beginning of the thesis treats with botanical characteristics of cornelian: description of the plant, its expansion, reproduction and location. There are described selected species, agricultural outplanting of the cornelian, its harvest and categorization to market kinds according to regulation of Ministry of Agriculture. Attention is given to actual substances contained in its fruits, especially vitamin C, which is presented in high amount there. This shrub includes many other important substances, like natural dyes - anthocyanins, minerals, organic acids, proteins, pectines, sugars, pulp and others. Fresh fruits are used mainly in food and cosmetic industry. At the end there are mentioned methods for determination of vitamin C by high performance liquid chromatography. The other possible ways how to determine vitamin C are titration method, spectroscopical method, polarographic method and gas chromatography.
Hodnocení růstových a sklizňových údajů netradičního ovocného druhu - dřínu obecného
Soporský, Marek
This work is focused on the evaluation of productivity and growth and phenological phases in the planting of Cornelian cherry. The evaluation was conducted on the experimental plot ŠZP Žabčice. Refraction measurement and level of vitamin C were done in the laboratory of the Institute of Plant Breeding and Propagation. Obtained values were statistically processed and evaluated and were sorted into tables and graphs and subsequently discussed in the text of the thesis. Photographs were taken during observation. These values allow selection of the most suitable type of variety for cultivation and subsequent processing. Findings also allow selecting the variety with the largest fruit, variety with highest crop yields, varieties of fruits richest in vitamin C or variety with the largest bush growth. Jolico variety yields the largest single fruit while Vyšegorodský variety offers highest yield of crop. Highest content of vitamin C is found in Fruchtal variety. Vydubecký variety is suitable for a rapid wood growth. Cornelian cherry is a versatile plant that can find its application in landscaping either for its heavy and hard wood or for its fruit which tastes well and is nutritionally interesting. Plant's resistance to diseases and pests is also significant. Cornelian cherry is not yet very common as a fruit in our country, however; this can change not only due to better awareness but also due to new plant varieties.
