Shakespearean chorus/prologue: its functions and effects in the play
Ohlídalová, Anna ; Znojemská, Helena (advisor) ; Hilský, Martin (referee)
The aim of this BA Thesis is to analyse and compare Shakespeare's prologues and choruses according to their formal features (narrative strategies, Chorus persona, and distribution in the play) and their position and function in the individual plays. The introductory chapter will briefly comment on the use of the chorus and prologue in Elizabethan drama, providing the context for subsequent specific analysis of Shakespeare's plays. The discussion will open with the analysis of the earliest of the containing this feature plays, Romeo and Juliet. This will provide a basis for categorising and documenting the development of the above characteristics, which will then be compared with other Shakespeare's prologues and choruses from all the genres of his plays. The other compared plays are Henry VIII, Midsummer Night's Dream, Troilus and Cressida, Pericles, Prince of Tyre, and Henry V.
Survey of stage interpretacion of chorus in Sofokles's tragedy Oidipús Tyrannos on czech stage
Mrázek, Vít ; Topolová, Barbara (advisor) ; Sarkissian, Alena (referee)
The dissertation is trying to form a panoramic survey of interpretational possibilities of an ancient chorus in the process of the Czech theatre on the basis of the detailed analysis of chosen productions in Sofokles's tragedy Oidipús Tyrannos from the end of 19th century to the beginning of 21st century. Chronological summary of the interpretations follows evolutional trends from the original version of the choir of the old men that prevailed in the first half of the 20th century over the variants ancient people that began in the fifties of the last century to metaphorical transformation of choirs that was brought by some stage conceptions from the beginning of 21st century.
Design and realization of the pedal effect on Arduino platform
Gajarský, Tomáš ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Krajsa, Ondřej (advisor)
The topic of my bachelor’s thesis is the design and the construction of the pedal effect used by the Arduino Due, which is supplemented by the possibility of controlling through the internal web interface, which is mediated by the modul Arduino Ethernet Shield. The following effects are included: echo, tremolo, vibrato, chorus and flanger. For editing the guitar signal in order to interact with AD microcontroller converter, is used the input filter preamplifier circuit. In order of editing the output signal from Arduino is used summing and filtring output circuit for the guitar amplifier. The basic component for these circuits is operating amplifier OPA1644. The goal of this thesis was to create the proposal of the connection schemes, printed circuit board, the program code of the microcontroller, simple web page, as well as the construction and the measurement of the pedal effect.
Analog Guitar Multieffect Using Tube for Signal Distortion
Kufa, Michal ; Kincl,, Zdeněk (referee) ; Staněk, Miroslav (advisor)
Presented thesis is oriented on the short survey of guitar effects functionality and the design of chosen guitar effects set embedded into one device. The first effect is related to input signal distortion using a vacuum tube, in this case the couple of double-diode tubes. Next effect is noise gate filtering parasitic artefacts included in input signal lower than set threshold level. The last realized guitar effect is chorus. Each individual effect can be controlled by footswitch. The first two sections are focused on the theory of guitar signal processing, the third section solves the whole design of chosen device, the realization and the proof of designed device functionality are described in further sections.
Chorus effect - innovation of laboratory exercise
Zvončák, Vojtěch ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Říha, Kamil (advisor)
The thesis is a theoretical preparation and description of the construction of a laboratory device, which will be used in the laboratory of Studio and Musical Electronics course. At the beginning of the thesis there are basic features of effects with delay line explained. Then CHORUS effect and its mathematical function is desribed. Features of delay line are shown - delay line contains BBD shift register working on CCD principle. There are Frequency Response characteristics of CHORUS effect simaluted in VST Plugin Analyser program. Practical part deals with the description of the individual parts of the whole device circuit. Results of the significant signals measurement are introduced in chapter 5. A design of power switching supply for this laboratory device is presented at the end of the thesis.
Realization of the chorus effect with BBD
Černý, Filip ; Mačák, Jaromír (referee) ; Říha, Kamil (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is conception and construction of new laboratory device enabling realization of the musical effect CHORUS. Part of this work is theoretical analyses of effects using delay line and charge coupled devices with BBD. The next part is dealing with conception of particular sections of the device. The device is constructed by individual standards and construction recommendation. The device is constructed for measurement purposes therefore it contains various setting elements. The final part is dealing with testing of the device and with a manual for measuring on this device in laboratory of musical electronic.
AutoRapper - Automatic Alignment of Speech with a Rhythm
Database of Whistler-mode Chorus in the Equatorial Plane
Macúšová, E. ; Santolík, Ondřej
Chorus emission is one of the most intense electromagnetic waves. Its source region is localised close to the geomagnetic equatorial plane within a few degrees. We present a unique database of whistler-mode chorus/hiss events obtained from the complete data set of wave measurements provided by the STAFF/DWP wave instrument on board TC-1 spacecraft. The TC-1 is one of two Earth orbiting satellites from the Double Star mission and it orbits close to the equatorial plane. Some instruments onboard both spacecraft are identical to those currently flying on the four Cluster spacecraft. The data base covers the full operational period of the spacecraft, between January 2004 and October 2007. All the events have been visually selected from the onboard-analyzed time-frequency spectrograms of magnetic search-coil measurements below 4 kHz.
