Jesus in the context of the Judaism of his period and nowadays research

The question "Who Jesus realy was?" is more than 250 years object of many studies. In recent years the number of scientists is increasing and it is even not possible to be experienced in all trends, methods and conclusions. In this thesis Jesus of Nazareth is depicted in the point of wiev of nowadays research and I aware of an incomplete insight into the whole issue. The aim of the thesis is to introduce to historical Jesus research. First part is constituted with theoretic-historical preliminary necessary to understand the second part. Selected questions of nowadays research are presented in the second part of the diploma thesis. The diploma thesis is concentrated on issues related to the historical Jesus in the context of the Judaism of his period and from the nowadays research's point of view. The aim is not exhaustive treatise, which is not possible due to type and scope of this thesis. The goal is to highlight some significant moments related to this issue. Whereas the aim is historical presentation of Jesus's life, there are not mentioned events comming up after the Jesus's death. Jan Merell - translator and biblical scholar

The present work strives to process, present and interpret the available materials relating to the life and work of the catholic priest, Bible scholar, teacher and dean of the Cyril and Methodius Theological Faculty, Jan Merell. The main aim of the work was to document his life path within the context of historical events, mainly in the period when Jan Merell was confronted with anticlerical persecution policy of the totalitarian regimes of the 20th century both during the occupation of Czechoslovakia by the army of the Nazi Germany and during the establishment and consolidation of the communist regime. Besides, the present work provides an overview of the rich literary and research work of Jan Merell that has made him one of the most prominent Czech biblical scholars and won him international reputation as well. Despite critical opinions questioning some aspects of his public activity, Jan Merell undoubtedly ranks among the most important personalities of Catholic church both in Czech context and abroad.

Faith inspired by living creation according to Psalm 104, Bless the LORD, O my soul! This work is concerned with the structure of Psalm 104, in various ways partition of Psalm's motives by various authors. It is aimed at analyzing of translations of selected parts, which are concerned with living creation. is concerned with variants of translation of some Hebrew (Greek and Latin) terms of animals (ibex, daman) in Czech. It compares the Psalm 104 with Egyptian Hymn to the Sun and other similar creation texts in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament is among the texts at first creation's report in Gn 1, others creations Psalms (Ps 8, Ps 19 and Ps 146) and 38-41 chapter of Job. Through many thematic similarities and disimilarities in ideas, it looks like very significant differences in the form of the texts presentations. While Psalm 104 is a praise of God in personal relationship to the God, the report of creation in Gn 1 is unpersonal story abote the God and in case of Jb 38-41 is a preaching speech of God to man. At more deeply meditation over the Psalm 104 and other similar texts, which arn't ment in more detail, is noticeable similarity of Psalm 104 with the report of the Flood in Gn 7-9 and analogical ancient myths in Mesopotamia. The theme of the essay is the mapping of the country/land theme in the Hebrew canon from the basic division of the individual word meanings along with brief characteristics and statistics of occurrences of each of these meanings in the canon, through a detailed focus on specific one - the Promised Land. The meaning is monitored in terms of content and theological significance with regard to the storyline of the text. Attention is focused on individual occurrences of words in the Hebrew text and on their specifics, but also on combining elements from the perspective of the entire canon of the Hebrew Bible.
Social- Ethical Aspects of the Jesus's Sermon on the Mount

Diploma thesis "Social-Ethical Aspects of the Jesus' Sermon on the Mount" reflects on chapters 5 - 7 of Mathew 's Gospel. It is based on the Greek translation of the Gospel and aims to express the supertemporal prehension of Jesus' ethical requirements by a man of any century, meaning by a man of our current days too. The paper verges on biblical studies and practical and spiritual theology. Diploma thesis focuses on relation between Jesus' requirements and ancient Hebrew ethical and social norms described in Torah and updated in Old Testament Prophets' scriptures. This paper shows their cohesion but emphasizes the Jesus original approach which reveals a deeper meaning of all Torah ethical norms and rules. Following the chapters of Sermon on the Mount , it is described how St. Matthew uses this intention . Social and ethical aspects of this text are highlighted and covered by many Old Testament citations which are related to the background of Jesus' Teachings. This paper also describes basic approaches to the Sermon on the Mount interpretation and shows the reader the direction. But no final conclusion of this topic can be made as we have been dealing with the secret.
