The issue of children´s beds at kindergartens
MARUŠOVÁ, Pavla
In my thesis I deal with a possible relation between the cots in nurseries and the increasing number of children with a poor posture. The aim is to map the condition of these cots and to determine the extent to which they sag if loaded. For my research I chose České Budějovice region, particularly two nurseries in České Budějovice and one nursery in Blatná.The theoretical part describes the development and function of the musculoskeletal system in the period from birth to 6 years of age and also depicts the growth of a preschool child's body. One of the chapters is devoted to the physical activity, which is an important instrument in the prevention of the improper organism development. Also, I describe the anatomical changes caused by the poor posture. An important part of the preschool child's daily program is the afternoon rest when children have to stay in beds. In my work I focus on the case of plastic beds where the standards are still very benevolent, although it is problematic. .The practical part consists of an objective measurement of the beds as well as data acquisition and its analysis with using of questionnaires. The research included 70 beds at three nurseries that have many years of experience with the plastic beds. Data were subsequently statistically evaluated. In my measurements, I was looking at the distance between the floor and the grate of the bed and how it changes without and with the load (the degree of sag). I registered the presence or absence of the mattress as well as the age of the bed, its manufacturer, storage of the beds and how they are handled in general. The collected data were used to confirm the original hypothesis: "The cots at the nurseries do not provide firm back support for children." To evaluate this hypothesis, the T test was used to calculate the statistical significance of sagging of the beds. The beds fitted into the range that has been designated by the recommended requirements for a solid back support. The null hypothesis is therefore not valid. The second hypothesis was evaluated using quantitative method of questionnaires. The questionnaires were completed by 154 respondents. This group was made up of parents of children from the three nurseries. The results showed that 98% of children of the questioned parents spend the afternoon rest time at the nursery in the bed. Statistical evaluation of the second hypothesis of the chi -square test confirmed: "More than two-thirds of the preschool children have no subjective symptoms related to the back pain." Even though statistically I cannot establish a link between the poor posture of children and the quality of the cots at nurseries, I came out with the finding that at two of the three nurseries they do not use mattresses, which leads to the greater degree of sag and also the sufficient thermal isolation is not provided. In the research, the children already diagnosed with the poor posture did occur; therefore it is necessary to look for other causes of their orthopedic problems. It should be mentioned that the pediatricians may improve the condition of children by the proper examination of the musculoskeletal system and not underestimating of the rehabilitative care. The system also includes professionals in the sphere of the protection of public health, who play the important role not only as the controllers, but mainly as the advisors.
The comparison of Bergmann and Annaburger traffic systems in basic agriculture industry companies.
HAVLÍK, Josef
This thesis compares two tractor traffic exchange systems, Bergmann and Annaburger, in two companies of basic agriculture industry. Tractor traffic systems are composed of towing and exchange vehicle which can be a carrier of several types of vehicle body. Bed, spreader and cistern are concerned in this case. Engineering chracteristics and operational experiences of every single exchange system were compared. Futher functionality, time demandingness of body exchange, machine operating comfort, failure rate and service security were also compared. One of the most important criteria for ranking of exchange systems is usage of every single body and capital and operating costs analyses which are also a part of this thesis. Both of exchange systems are on a high technical processing level but the Annaburger company offers better control system in basic version then the Bergman company. As a result we can say that the Annaburger machines are ingeniously constructed and are more popular as well. Costs benefit analysis has been done. Exchange traffic system Annaburger HTS 22.79 was found to be cheaper by 22, 82 CZK for one carriage kilometer and by 10,05 CZK for ton and kilometer then expensive competitive Bergmann Vario440.
Clinical bed as a nurse´s helper
HRADOVÁ, Helena
This thesis is focused on a patient bed. The theoretical part deals with a patient bed in general, the patient beds classification as mechanical, electrical, child and infant beds, and also special beds. For the patient´s comfort not only a quality bed is important, but also basic fittings and various auxiliary parts in the form of additive accessories. The bed has a unique function in the care of patients, it enables to adjust various therapeutic and examination positions, but it also helps in many ways in the nurse´s work by reducing the impact of high physical load on her musculoskeletal system. The current issue is also the care for the nurse´s health and safety at work The objectives of this work are to determine how a patient bed helps in the nurse´s work, how useful the auxiliary parts of the bed may be and whether nurses make use of the bed convenience features. The stated hypotheses assume that the bed make the nurses´ work easier, nurses are satisfied with types of beds in the ward, make use of bed convenience features and also use the additive accessories. The survey was conducted by the quantitative method using questionnaires made up for nurses working in the České Budějovice Hospital, Inc. These questionnaires were distributed to standard departments, the Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Care and Anesthesiology and Intensive Care. The questionnaire contained 35 questions, it was completely anonymous and voluntary. The data obtained from the questionnaires are processed into graphs in percentage. In the final part of the thesis the findings either confirm or do not confirm the pre-stated hypothesis, the output of this work is the research results provision to the hospital management as a material suitable for the selection of new patient beds in the department. The results will also be submitted to the beds manufacturer, as an example of nurses´ feedback.
The care of a sickbed as a nursing problem.
PŘÍHONSKÁ, Lucie
Taking care of beds is part of nurses{\crq} everyday work. The way a bed looks influences the patient{\crq}s physical and mental state. Care of the bed involves its arrangement, exchanging used bed-linen and especially disinfection, which prevents the transfer of nosocomial infections. The objectives of the thesis was to survey the way nurses take care of beds, identify obstacles associated with the care of beds, and propose a basis for creating a standard care of beds. 3 research questions were set. Research question 1: How does the length of patients{\crq} stay on the bed depend on the frequency of its disinfection in practice? Research question 2: Do nurses consider the care of beds from the point of view of the work schedule or the patient{\crq}s comfort? Research question 3: What are the most frequent obstacles in the care of beds? The research was conducted by means of a structured observation, followed by a follow-up recording in the record sheet. An anonymous questioning was conducted to obtain results. 8 nurses present in the department took part in the observation and questioning in the course of research investigation. The research set consisted of nurses in the subsequent care of the CTM Hospital a.s. in Humpolec. The investigation results let us set hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: The overall disinfection of the bed is done after the patient is discharged from the hospital. Hypothesis 2: Nurses take care of beds according to work schedule. Hypothesis 3: An obstacle in the arrangement of the bed is the lack of clean bed-linen. The investigation results may be provided to the management of the department in which the investigation was conducted. They may result in an improvement of the care of beds. A proposal of the nursing standard of the care of beds was drawn up as the result of this investigation. This proposal may serve for unifying the care of beds in individual departments. Setting principles and the overall procedure in the care of beds.
