Public auctions and court distrainers auctions
Ondráček, Tomáš ; Štěpánek, Petr (advisor) ; Kostelanský, Ludvík (referee)
A creditor has the possibility to settle a claim not only with the help of a court distrainer, but also with a system of public auctions. In my opinion, the first option is much more used because the public does not know the advantages of public auctions. In my bachelor's thesis I compare the public auctions under the Act on Public Auctions to the court distrainer auctions under the Civil Procedure Code and Execution Procedure. In the first and second part I describe both auction systems. In the other part I highlight the major differences of both systems. In the last part I assess chosen elements, explain the advantages and disadvantages of both systems and suggest possible modifications for greater effectiveness of the auctions.
On the optimality of not allocating
Hernando-Veciana, Á. ; Michelucci, Fabio
We show that the commitment to not allocate may be exploited by a seller/social planner to increase the expected social surplus that can be achieved in the sale of an indivisible unit.
Pre-sale estimates verification: Czech painting at auctions
Macková, Jaroslava ; Schwarz, Jiří (advisor) ; Šťastný, Daniel (referee)
The predictive power of pre-sale estimates in comparison with hedonic model of hammer price is tested within Czech painters' dataset in Czech and foreign auctions. It appears that pre-sale estimates do not account for all available information from public database which influence hammer price. The determinants of differences are examined on Czech and foreign auctions separately (OLS with instrumental variable) and in addition bought-in works are included into examination of foreign dataset by Heckit model. The same author appears to be the most viable difference in both datasets (after bought-in works inclusion in foreign data). Techniques and supports with higher hammer prices tend to have higher rate of difference between hammer and estimate prices. The influence of the oldest auction houses to higher hammer prices than estimates was confirmed. In Czech environment this influence of some auction house was not registered.
Health care financing- Total hip replacement surgeries
Kutlák, Štefan ; Szabová, Lucia (advisor) ; Krebs, Vojtěch (referee)
This Bachelor thesis deals with the imperfections in the functioning and financing of public health care on the example of the total hip replacement surgeries. It summarized findings from foreign studies on the phenomenon of informal payments and disadvantages in public health insurance system. Based on the data from the Czech healthcare system describes the differences and inefficiencies between health care providers and suggest the mechanism, which can be helpful with increasing efficiency in spending funds for total hip replacement surgeries.
Analysis of the behavior and decision-making of the Dutch auction and the ascending auction with one price of homogeneous product
Svatošová, Ludmila ; Hudík, Marek (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This work deals with the behavior and decision making of players in the English auction with homogeneous goods. To analyze the behavior and decision making, laboratory experiment was conducted. It contains the description and analysis of laboratory experiment, which was carried out for the purposes of this thesis. The fundamental question that this work tries to answer is whether the frequency of the optimal price varies according to auction environment and whether, in all environments the choice of optimal strategy prevails. The experiment used three types of environments, each of them is characterized by a different probability distribution of values. Analysis produced as follows: first in each auction round the optimal prices was determineds and then it was compared to the price actually achieved. Based on this analysis it was found that the frequency of optimal price choices doesn't differs significantly depending on the environment. However , the optimal price was achieved only in very few rounds of the auction.
Player strategies in pay-per-bid auctions
Cestr, Ondřej ; Svoboda, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hudík, Marek (referee)
This paper analyzes impact of concrete game strategies used by players on auction sites with pay-per-bid auction system, which spread to Czech market. In my analysis I use an individual aggression model, presented by Byers, Mitzenmacher a Zervas (2010). By using data sets of complete bidding records acquired from Bonus.cz I found that winners of auctions are much more aggressive than usual. Wide spread waiting strategy, which uses low aggression method is represented between winners only with less than 9%.
Behavior of participants specific Vickrey's 2ns price auction - natural experiment
Havel, Tomáš ; Bartoň, Petr (advisor) ; Hlavík, Petr (referee)
Paper deals with allocation of resources in a group of players of an on-line game World of Warcraft. Work includes description and analysis of the most common resource allocation systems in this specific world. The special attention is paid to possible contributions of auctions into the game, especially Vickrey's 2nd price auction. There is an adjusted model of Vickrey's auction, which replaced system of resources allocation based on administrative price. Trend in prices of items and behavior of auction participants is also studied.
