Investigation of food intolerances using Immunolab IgG4 Screen Nutritional Lineblot.

Food intolerance is defined as a response of G immunoglobulins (IgG) to antigens, which come from specific types of food. Statistical analyses show that 45 - 60% of population suffer from intolerance to at least one type of foodstuff that may lead to clinical symptoms or to worsen such symptoms. Majority of people is not aware of their intolerance and therefore various symptoms are unnecessarily and unsuccessfully treated by medication. Signs of an intolerance can vary from skin irritation, digestive problems, up to overweight. The aim of my bachelor thesis was to prepare a professional literature review. Then to master practical methods enabling detection of 20 food intolerances from blood plasma using Immunolab IgG4 Screen Nutritional Lineblot, and presentation of findings about food intolerances. Theoretical part of the thesis is focused on differences between a food intolerance and food allergy, the most common causes of intolerances and their possible association with other diseases. Ways of investigations of intolerances are analysed together with a summary of experts' positions over this testing. Practical part of the thesis, which I performed in genetic laboratories GENLABS in České Budějovice, contains a precise description of performed method used for a detection of food intolerances and statistical analysis of retained results.

IL-25: Novel target to treat allergic diseases

Interleukin (IL) 25 is a proinflammatory cytokine that promotes a Th2-type cell response. Its alternate name is IL-17E, and along with 5 other members, IL-25 belongs to to the family of cytokine IL-17. The family is based on the similarity of their amino acid sequences. The source and target cells of IL-25 include many different cell types. IL-25 is not only produced by many types of immune cells, but epithelial and Paneth cells are involved in its production as well. Its receptors form heterodimers composed of 2 subunits - IL-17RA and IL-17RB. Both receptor proteins are required for IL-25 mediated activities and occur in other IL-17 family members. IL-25 also plays an important role in allergies - one of the most common diseases in developed countries. Cytokine IL-25 has been studied primarily in asthma. However, other very common types of allergies, such as food allergies, atopic dermatitis and allergic rhinitis, can not be overlooked. Even in these cases, the role of IL-25 is not negligible and is studied. Based on the knowledge of IL-25 biology and its role in allergies, this cytokine may be an important therapeutic target in the treatment of allergic diseases. Sport activities with asthma bronchiale diagnosis

This work examines the influence of asthma on children's sports activity. Tested were nine children with asthma bronchiale, athletes and non-sportspeople, using a test battery UNIFITTEST (6-60). The work compares the results of the children tested with results that indicate standardized tables for children of the same age. Asthma In Children's Population and the Enviromental Factors In Selected Towns of the Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis is to give information about asthmatic disease, to evaluate the situation in Czech children's population and to analyze the impacts of selected environmental factors on the occurrence of the bronchial asthma in selected age group. In the first part of this thesis are the information about bronchial asthma. In the second part of this thesis are description of the data of selected children group and characteristics of the environment (the source of data was from Czech National Health Institute). There are verifications of the null hypotheses about the risk effect of the environmental factors on the occurrence of the bronchial asthma among 5-years-old children in selected towns of the Czech Republic. The selected towns are České Budějovice, Hodonín, Hradec Králové, Jablonec nad Nisou, Jihlava, Karviná, Kladno, Mělník, Most, Olomouc, Sokolov, Ústí nad Labem, Ústí nad Orlicí and Žďár nad Sázavou.

Art therapy when working with children with asthmatic disease. This thesis deals with the effect of art therapy techniques for children and youth suffering from asthma. The theoretical part deals with the diagnosis of asthma, history, present, psychosomatic. It characterizes children with the diagnosis of asthma, further describes the possibilities of psychotherapy, forms and methods of art therapy. The practical part includes characteristics of research sample and the enviroment, art activities. It describes and evaluates the options and the use of art therapy for primary school children.

Creation and testing of educational program: Health education and prevention of non-infectious disorders (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

The bachelor thesis deals with the design and applicability of an educational program intended for students of the master course Education with a focus on health education. The educational program is aimed at health education and the prevention of non-infectious diseases asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In the introductory theoretical section I analyse concepts like health, prevention, lifestyle and disease. The central theme focuses on the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma and smoking, which has a decisive role in the development of both diseases. In the practical section I verify the applicability of the educational program by comparing the input and output tests, which give evidence about the level of knowledge on the topic in question of randomly chosen students of the course Education with a focus on health education. The results of the practical investigation confirm the feasibility of the program in practical use and its considerable impact on deepening students' knowledge in the studied topic.
