Virtualization of virtualization software
Holovová, Simona ; Ilgner, Petr (referee) ; Lieskovan, Tomáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with virtualization. The main goal is to compare selected virtualization platforms and describe their functioning. The theoretical part describes the theoretical basis for virtualization, its fundamentals as well as various types and security threats. The practical part contains the description and the way of performing the tests as well as the used tool. Subsequently, the results obtained are interpreted and compared. The thesis is further dealing with nested virtualization and measuring its effectiveness.
HelenOS port to Xen hypervisor
Benhák, Tomáš ; Děcký, Martin (advisor) ; Tůma, Petr (referee)
The goal of the master thesis is the paravirtualization of HelenOS operating system for Xen hypervisor on IA-32. The result of the thesis is a prototype implementation which allows to run HelenOS as a PV guest under Xen hypervisor. The thesis analyses the Xen hypervisor interface with respect to the paravirtualized operating system running under it, the relevant parts of HelenOS kernel and changes in them forced by the paravirtualization.
HelenOS as Xen hypervisor
Dolejš, Jan ; Děcký, Martin (advisor) ; Ježek, Pavel (referee)
The aim of the master thesis is to create a prototype implementation of the interface of the Xen hypervisor within the HelenOS operating system. The target architecture of this prototype implementation is IA-32. The result of the thesis is a port of HelenOS which can be uses to run the selected para-virtualized domain. The thesis contains a brief introduction to the methods of virtualization and describes the main differences between them. Thesis also describes the parts of the architecture of the Xen hypervisor and the HelenOS operating system, which will be modified in the prototype implementation. The most important part of this thesis is to select of the t testing domain as well as analyze and describe all changes, which were required for the do-main's operation.
Virtualisation tools in theory and practice
Petrbok, Lukáš ; Halbich, Čestmír (advisor) ; Vaněk, Jiří (referee)
The bachelor thesisi deals with the using virtuliazion on personal computer, where this technology has also use. It defines all possible types of virtualization from emulation after full virtualization. It also characterizes new technology Docker which use software containers. The practical parts evaluates four virtualization platforms for operating system Ubuntu. And it is like after funcitional page, so like primarily after performance page using test focused mainly on performance of central procesing unit, but also on read and write speed on hard disk and operating memory. In the end of work is recommended virtualization platform, but decision is not clear and it depends on user requests.
Realization and optimalization of data storage server
Holík, Martin ; Urban, František (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with realization and optimization of datacentres, specializing on the servers’ design area. The assessment comprises of theoretical problem analysis, such as virtualization, virtualization platform, data sharing, as well as cloud storage production design. Final conception is implemented on the physical serveresign.
Network Performance in Virtualized Environment
Hlaváček, Martin ; Puš, Viktor (referee) ; Kaštovský, Petr (advisor)
The thesis deals with problems concerning network performance in virtualized environment. There is an opening presentation of basics and techniques of virtualization. It describes network communication issues on virtualized environment such as Xen, KVM and VMware. There are also mentioned factors affecting network communication. Finally the performance of those environments is measured and results are analyzed.
Deploying Virtual Servers for ISP
Zelený, Jan ; Michal, Bohumil (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis describes principals of virtualization based on the Xen project. Text focuses mainly on putting system into service for purpose of it's subsequent use by ISPs. The goal of this work is also to explore the possible usages of virtualized systems based on the Xen by ISPs. One of these possibilities will be specified to the point when it will by usable or it will be able to be developed independently of author of this work. This work also designs and mostly implements system, which can be used as a base for wide spectrum of of services, when installing these services doesn't effect the rest of the system.
Techniques of Virtualisation of Computing Platforms in Linux
Župka, Jiří ; Kumpošt, Marek (referee) ; Vojnar, Tomáš (advisor)
The thesis tests and compares various existing virtualization tools for virtualization of computing platforms and explains important conceptions of virtualization technology. It's main contribution is a performance,  efficiency, scalability and robustness comparison of virtualization tools. This comparison should help the Redhat company to make a decision whether they should leave XEN as a main virtualization tool in their distributions and move on to another newer and more user friendly virtualization tool like KVM.
Analysis of Entropy Levels in the Entropy Pool of Random Number Generator
Virtual environment by Xen software
Kulíř, Tomáš ; Kouřil, Jiří (referee) ; Jelínek, Mojmír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis, which is called the virtual environment by Xen software, deals with the operating system GNU / Linux and its distributions. It also deals with the virtualization on the server or desktop computer, in particular, describes in detail the Xen environment, including all of its options and the most forgotten server services. In the first chapter is analyzed the concept of GNU / Linux. First, there is documented history. Another section deals with a brief overview of the most commonly occurring distributions. The main part of this chapter is primarily devoted to a specific distribution Debian. There is described not only the history and development of this distribution, but also more packaging system is analyzed there. The last part of this chapter is devoted to the installation options with a detailed description of the whole process step by step. Second and the most important chapter is devoted to virtual environments. Once again, there is first described their history, the possibility of practical use and the types of virtualization are also indicated there. Reader will find there a brief analysis of the most commonly used virtualization systems. The third chapter detailed deals with the Xen technology. There is not only explained the principle on which the virtualization is built, but the main part of this chapter focuses on the practical use and a summary of basic functions. The next section describes the installation and administration of hypervisor including previous preparation. A very important point is also creation of the virtual machines and their control, their migration to another physical hardware or a description of the installation of other operating systems than Linux. Fourth, shorter chapter deals with a listing and a brief description of server services. The final chapter consists of a summary of problems or complications, which in the course of this work occurred.
