The Monument of the "Benes Letters"?(The Statue of the President Benes in Prague as a "Place of Memory")

in English The Monument of the "Benes Letters"? (The Statue of the President Benes in Prague as a "Place of Memory") This dissertation shows the gallery of various moods of recollections the Czech politician Edvard Beneš (1884−1948) during the years 2002−2005, it means around the great easterly enlargement of the European Union. In these period many controversies were led internationally and bilaterally about the "Benes Letters" and about the displacement of Germans after the WW2, in the Czech Republic about the issue "Benes and communism", too. The introduction sketches the theoretical and methodological starting points of this dissertation, and then recapitulates the European context of the problems and the structure of this study. The second chapter looks into the research of E. Benes in the milieu of the Czech pro- Benes contemporary witnesses of him and their organizations, characterizes their narrative and shows their activities, which were done in direction to the celebration of this hero. The third chapter analyzes another one type of the Benes recollection in Czech − the example of one caricatural bust of Benes, artwork of artistic group Pode Bal, and shows the contemporary political context of this intervention. Everydayness of socialism in border regions demonstrated on the village Bedrichov in Jizera mountains.

The thesis deals with everydayness of socialism demonstrated on the selected village Bedrichov which is situated in the borderland between Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou, two important towns of the Liberec region. In the thesis, there is compared the crucial period of socialism (from 1948 to 1989) with the era before the World War II and with the time period after 1989. Oral history which is a specific form of qualitative research method is used for gathering information about world, people and their lives. The first section of the paper describes the theoretical concepts used for studying of everydayness, memories and border regions. In this part is also presented and analyzed the result of the existing research of everydayness in socialism. The main section of the thesis consists of my own research and is divided into individual topics which reflect everyday life as percepted by people living in Bedrichov.
The use of reminiscence therapy in working with the elderly

The bachelor thesis deals with the use of reminiscence therapy in working with the elderly in the retirement homes. This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part of this thesis the terms of old age and aging are characterized, their division, there are also described changes which occur during this period and further analysis of needs. The second part deals with the reminiscence therapy, its functions, its meaning and the use in the social care services. In this part there are also described the individual functions of reminiscence with the use of casuistic which were created in the retirement home in Veselí nad Lužnicí as it was noticed in the practise by the author of this thesis.
How to introduce children to the topic of death?

In this thesis I follow up the question How can we communicate with children in a question of death. I mainly focus on dying, acceptance of death and what are the effects that death can have on children i describe historical and current views of the death from sociological perpective. I compare the differences of burials in various countries. Burials are closely related with the topics like grief and remembrance of survivors. The work also shows views of children's literature on the subject of death. This literature has become a guide for understanding the child's feelings perceived in personal contact with death. It also says how the child accept and how it is influenced by death. Finally, it points out the importance of communication and explanation of the current situation of the child. The main role does family or professional assistance that should be provided to the child. The contribution of this work to see that the critically summarized on Czech literature and briefly compared to abroad.
