Nursing Care of Seniors in Intensive Care Unit-ICU and Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Unit-ARU

General nurses in their proffesion provide nursing care to patients of different age groups. Quite frequently represented group are seniors. This fact is due to the increase in life expectancy, medical advances and polymorbidity of seniors, which is often the cause of their hospitalization. Nursing care for seniors is particularly challenging due to the occurence of many geriatric symptoms, restriction of cognitive functions and inabillity to self care. Much more difficult situation occurs, if the state of geriatric patient requires care in ARO (Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation) or ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Identification of problem areas in intensive nursing care for seniors leads to infer the possible measures for practice. In terms of this thesis quantitative research was carried out using a questionnaire survey. Research group consisted of general nurses from departments of intensive care, thus professional intesive care units (ICU) and department of anesthesiology and resuscitation. Diabetes mellitus in equestrian sport in Czech Republic

Title: Diabetes mellitus in Equistrian Sport in Czech Republic Objectives: The aim of the literature review part of the thesis was to give an introduction to the issue of diabetes mellitus as well as the effect of sport on the decompensation of the disease, to search for available sources on a narrowly focused topic - the impact of horse riding on diabetes mellitus, and to process the findings in a clear form into the first (literature review) part of the work. The goal of the second (research) part was to map, with the use of questionnaires and interviews, the situation of diabetes patients in the Czech Republic who do equestrian sport actively. In the case study their subjective feelings were reviewed. The main aim was to prove the positive impact of horse riding on diabetes mellitus, or more precisely to find out if it is stress or physical exertion that has a greater effect on the blood glucose (BG) level. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on the issue of public awareness of disease management as well as first aid. Technological progress have gradually affected all aspects of human life, and it hit also the wood processing. Newly introduced methods and technologies have brought a reduction of onerous, increasing productivity and entirely new risks arising from the operation of innovative woodworking techniques. This work deals with just one of a number of risks arising from work with wood and it’s subject is a noise that is inherent in the use of technology. Short and also a long term noise exposure negative effects the human body and it can cause irreversible damage or even death. This work is focused on the effect of exposure to noise when working with Circular Saw with emphasis on the physiology and human psychology with regard to occupational safety and health. The thesis also analyzes the stress in the workplace, stress, emerging and potential physiological and mental reactions to it. The work results during physiological functions of the persons who attended the measuring apparatus using Biofeedback 2000 x-pert for exposure acoustic stimuli.

Perception of Workload and Job Satisfaction among Social Workers.

The bachelor thesis is focused on the perception of workload and satisfaction of social workers. Furthermore, it deals with work and psychological stress of social workers, on its compensation and sustainable motivational component of this profession. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part there is a more detailed description of the profession of social worker defined by Act No. 108/2006 Coll., about social services and related basic terms. There are also areas focused on work and mental stress, burnout syndrome, motivation and remuneration of social workers and related satisfaction. Last but not least, there is an area focused on coping with and preventing mental stress and workload. The qualitative research method was chosen to prepare the practical part of the thesis. The data were organized using a semi-structured interview with ten social workers of various organizations in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the analytical part of is to emphasize the work and mental stress of social workers and to find out what influence it has on their professional and private life. The research questions were mainly focused on motivation and rewarding of social workers, perception of specific stressors and workloads, but also on the influence of social, family sphere, and above all on the work team. Following the interviews, it was possible to point out the current perception of the performance of the social worker's profession. This thesis could be beneficial for students of Social Work as an insight into the current perception of a social worker's profession from a real and practical perspective. The result of this bachelor thesis can also provide insight into the current state of work and mental stress of social workers and point out the possible optimization of the prevention of psychological problems associated with the performance of this profession.
Workload of Social Service Workes in a Special Programme Regime Home

This diploma thesis deals with workload of social service workers in special regime homes. The aim of this paper is to chart the factors influencing workload of social service workers in special regime homes. The main research question asked is: How do social service workers in special regime homes perceive their workload subjectively? The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a research part. The theoretical part is divided into five chapters which are based on professional literature. The chapters contain a detailed description of the profession of social service workers including professional qualifications together with the definition of the social service - special regime home. The term strain is defined and divided into workload, mental strain and physical strain in the following chapter together with a mention of the term work-life balance in connection with this topic. The subsequent chapter is dedicated to prevention of inception of strain, more precisely to supervision and mental health hygiene. The last chapter deals in detail with occupational burnout. The research part contains the specifications of the aim of the thesis, of the main research question and of five research sub-questions which have been based on the main one. The data have been collected by means of qualitative research, survey methodology and the semi-structured interview method. A specific special regime home in the Vysočina region has been selected for the purposes of this research. The nine participants in the research are social service workers who have been employed at the facility for a minimum of one year. The research was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, a preliminary research was done to serve as a base for adjusting the research questions. The actual research was realised in the next phase. The acquired data were processed using the clustering method and evaluated subsequently. The evaluated data are ordered in relation to the research questions. The social service workers cope with the workload well. They consider their work to be not only physically but also substantially mentally demanding. Manipulating with bedridden clients is viewed as the most physically challenging operation by the facility workers. The most mentally challenging situations for them are the decease of clients, incessant explaining, dealing with clients, etc. The workers experience stressful situations with clients, however more frequently with clients' families as well. The most common work-related health problems of the workers at the facility are backaches. The results of this diploma thesis can serve the selected special regime home in the Vysočina region or as a study material to the lay and professional public.
