Electricity storage with Power to gas
Bartlíková, Zuzana ; Pospíšil, Jiří (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with accumulation of electricity energy using power to gas technology (P2G). The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part describes the whole system from the production of electricity, through water to the production of hydrogen by available technologies and possibilities of using hydrogen. For individual parts of the P2G system are described their operating conditions, advantages, disadvantages and efficiency. The second part of the thesis is practical. Several possible uses of hydrogen produced and the efficiency result of these P2G systems are determined. Finally, there is one use of the hydrogen produced which is compared from the energy point of view with the system that is currently used to store electricity.

The bachelor thesis deals with the feasibility study of the pumped storage power station in Střekov na Labi. The aim of the thesis is the design of one variant of the building and technological part of the power house. The study is divided into several parts, consisting of engineering report, hydraulic calculations, drawing documentation and photo-documentation.
Feasibility study of the pumped storage power station
Suchomelová, Aneta ; Samková, Aneta (referee) ; Dráb, Aleš (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is a study of the pumped storage power station in Střekov located on the river Elbe. The study primarily deals with the processing of the building and technological part of the engine room for the underground engine room variant located in the area of the existing Vaňov harbor. The subject of the study is neither the documentation of the upper water reservoir nor the water supply from the upper water reservoir. The study is divided into several parts, including an engineering report, hydrotechnical calculations, project documentation of the engine room concerning the pumped storage power station and the photographic documentation of the locality.
Feasibility study of the pumped storage power station
Bolek, Marek ; Špano, Miroslav (referee) ; Dráb, Aleš (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create a study that deals with the construction of the machine cavern of the shaft-type pumped-storage power plant containing 4 machine sets of the Reverse Francis Trubine with underground penstocks and short discharge tunnels, located in the area of a quay in Vaňov in the Ústí nad Labem District. The introduction deals with the pumped-storage power plants in general. The following chapter focuses on the assessment of the locality of interest. The final part contains a proposal of a structural-technological design of the machine cavern by means of a technical report, a design of the spiral case and documentation of the structure by means of drawings.
The assessment of advantages of construction of large hydroelectric power plants in the area of Cukrova bouda, district Sumperk
Knápek, Michal ; Kopřiva,, Miroslav (referee) ; Mastný, Petr (advisor)
The subject matter of the master´s thesis is, in particular, an evaluation of the advantageousness of the construction of a pumped-storage hydroelectric power station in the vicinity of Cukrová Bouda. In the master´s thesis introduction the utilisation of pumped-storage hydroelectric power stations in providing reserve power generation to the operator of a power transmission system is discussed. The thesis then focuses on a technical design solution where two alternatives are drawn up for which the nominal parameters of individual designs for a pumped-storage hydroelectric power station are specified. The following part deals with the impact of the structure and the plant’s subsequent operation on the environment. A further key part is the determination of investment and subsequent operating costs and an evaluation of the plant according to economic pointers. The final part of the master´s thesis contains a SWOT analysis and an assumed programme of works for the plant’s preparation and actual construction. The conclusion contains an overall evaluation.
Feasibility study pumped storage hydropower plant in a particular locality
Vaněk, Michal ; Štigler, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hudec, Martin (advisor)
Electric energy storage represents an area, which needs to be further developed in order to accommodate more installed capacity of wind and solar power plants in the electric grids. Pumped hydro energy storage still remains ahead of other storage technologies in terms of achievable storage capacity. However, environment protection which is one of the obstacles for further PHES development in Europe causes significant reduction of suitable sites. It is therefore useful to examine also those sites, which seem to be less favourable for PHES at the first glance. This thesis deals with a feasibility study of a PHES on place of a former graphite surface mine. The thesis includes computation of basic capacities, choice of a suitable machine arrangement and introduction into PHES feasibility issues in electric grids. Two possible solutions of a smaller PHES that differ in their capacities were suggested based on available materials about the site as well as on available materials from Francis pump turbine model research. In case of both solutions a binary machine set is used and the available capacities are in small tens of megawatts. However, there is a wide head variation at the site, which causes significant power variation. Concerning the feasibility of the PHES, it is very uncertain that the participation in the day-ahead electricity market, would provide enough revenue to cover operation and capital costs. A following economic analysis investigating the capital costs of this particular PHES would be beneficial, as well as more detailed design of the reservoirs.
Economic analysis of doubly fed generators in pumped storage power plants
Čech, Jindřich ; Klusáček, Jan (referee) ; Radil, Lukáš (advisor)
The objective of this bachelor’s thesis is to evaluate pros and cons of doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) used in pumped storage power plants and to evaluate financial advantages of using DFIG compared to synchronous machines.

The design of the repair of the asphaltic lining of embankment dam
Dostál, Kryštof ; Rudolfová, Mirka (referee) ; Říha, Jaromír (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of repairs to the asphalt concrete facing of the upper reservoir of the pump-storage power station Dlouhé Strána. The first part summarizes the knowledge about asphalt concrete facings, experience from foreign constructions and a description of the damage on this hydraulic structure. The second part defines the variants of repairs and the selection of the most suitable on the basis of decision analysis.
Using asynchronous doubly fed generators for hydroelectric plant
Cudrák, Martin ; Paar, Martin (referee) ; Radil, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the use of a double fed induction machine for pumped storage power plants. Firstly, the thesis describes principles and advantages of this generator and its beneficial properties when used with PSP. Subsequently, the use of DFIG in PVE in the world is researched and the parameters of these PSP and benefits of using DFIG are identified. Furthermore, the issue of using these generators in current and planned PSP in the Czech Republic is descibed. is further assessed. In this context, planned sites for the new construction of PSP in the Czech Republic are mentioned in the bachelor’s work. And then, on the specific example from abroad, it is descibed which circumstances must be taken into account when reconstructing of existing PSP.
