Charging station NiMh battery packs
Pochylý, Vít ; Otáhal, Alexandr (referee) ; Šteffan, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to get acquainted with the characteristics of rechargeable accumulator batteries and their charging and on the basis of this obtained information to design a charger of larger number of batteries. The design and later construction of the charger will be designed for 6 battery packs, which consist of six NiHM rechargeable cells. This means that the charger will be able to charge 36 of these cells. The main advantage will be the control of the charger using a microcontroller, which will allow the appropriate selection of the charging cycle, display of information and control by buttons.
Construction of portable charger for mobile phone
Stejskal, Lukáš ; Cipín, Radoslav (referee) ; Vondruš, Jiří (advisor)
In this thesis suggest the involvement of appropriate driver for mobile phone travel charger. The work is a treatise on the available accumulators, which can be used as a source for the proposed power converter.
Study of Metal Oxides and Hydroxides in Aqueous Solutions
Špičák, Petr ; Trnková, Libuše (referee) ; Kadlec, Jaromír (referee) ; Kazelle, Jiří (advisor)
This dissertation work deals with analysis of nickel hydroxide phases, their oxidation compounds, their stability and degradation mechanisms of electrochemically more active alpha phase on standard beta phase. The active material was prepared by both methods, electrodeposition and chemical precipitation. Main analysis method was Electrochemical Quartz Crystal Microbalance in combination with common analytical methods (cyclic voltammetry, potenciometry) can resolute between alpha and beta phases and quantitatively describe differences in main reaction by monitoring mass changes in the active material. Poor stability of the ?-Ni(OH)2 were improved by adding cations with valence two three and four into the structure instead of Ni atoms. The most important role plays cobalt and its hydroxide. Totally new way is to use titanium in combination with other cations. In electrolyte the most significant addition is LiOH, which has beneficial influent on cycle ability, stability in strong alkaline medium and cycle life.
Backup power supply with solar panel charging
Křepela, Pavel ; Götthans, Tomáš (referee) ; Kubíček, Michal (advisor)
This project aims to create a backup power source with solar charging for small mobile devices (through USB connector). The charger should store power in a battery that is charged either from external power source or the solar panel. In the introduction, the work deals with the theory of solar cells and batteries. Furthermore, it described the selection of suitable components and design diagram.
Automatic battery charger for medical equipment
Talanda, Oldřich ; Daněček, Vít (referee) ; Chmelař, Milan (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is describe properties accumulators used in medical industry and proposal automatic baterry charger for medical equipment. The first part of the master’s thesis describes the most commonly used types of electrochemical accumulator systems used in the medical industry. Further listed are the criteria for the identification of the accumulator charge status. The second part of the master’s thesis defines demands on automatic baterry charger and proposal factual network solution.

Capacity meter for Li-Ion and NiMH accumulators
Pinďák, Lukáš ; Cipín, Radoslav (referee) ; Huták, Petr (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is primarily theoretical analysis of battery problems, analysis tester capacity of Li-ion and NiMH accumulators and its subsequent construction. The work consists of three main. The first part deals with the electrochemical current sources and their division, a brief description of their charging and final comparison commonly most used batteries. The second part of the thesis is already focused on the practical design of the capacity meter. In this section is explained the issue of measuring voltage, current and temperature of the battery and determination of their capacity. The last part describes the device software. The proposed devices allow measurement capacity Li-ion and NiMH cells at three different load modes and can be recharged after discharge.
Intelligent versatile charger
Veteška, Michal ; Macháň, Ladislav (referee) ; Žák, Jaromír (advisor)
The theoretical part deals with the theory of batteries. The principle of Nickel-cadmium (NiCd), Nickel-metalhydride (NiMH) and lithium (Li-Ion) batteries are described. The principles of proper charging and weaning of these batteries are also described. The proposal and construct NiCd and NiMH batteries charger, consisted of the three parts and the switching power supply, controller and chargers is included in the practical part of this work.
USB battery tester
Andrysík, Lukáš ; Langhammer, Lukáš (referee) ; Lattenberg, Ivo (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis contains construction of battery tester along with primary and secondary cells comparsion. It consists of four parts - the first one focuses on general description of the most commonly used electrochemical cells, their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. Second one relates to design a custom equipment for testing these cells including software, parts values calculations and common problems with the design. Third part is mainly about mechanical design and PCB manufacture. The last section is devoted to comparsion of several models of cells in terms of capacity and performance under different conditions.
