Process Optimization in the Company

The bachelor thesis deals with optimization of manufacturing process in the chosen company. The first part defines the theoretical basis of the Lean Six Sigma methodology and the tools, techniques and concepts that this methodology provides. The analytical part introduces the company and the product that is produced on the production line, then the tools of the Lean Six Sigma methodology are utilized to analyze the current process. The design part deals with the proposal to introduce a new process on the production line. In the final part of the thesis, the results are evaluated and the expected financial savings are quantified.

The introduction of lean manufacturing into an engineering company

The diploma thesis is focused on implementation of lean production through using Lean Six Sigma method into an engineering company, producing cable harnesses for the automotive industry, mainly for trucks. The aim of the project is to increase production capacity by 25 %, reduce wastage rate to 3 % and design a new layout of production areas. The budget of this project is 3 million CZK. The production was slimmed down using the 5S methodology. To meet the aim of the project, three new machines had to be bought. The steps have resulted in a saving of 64 CZK per piece, which means a return on investment in about 8 months.

The bachelor's thesis is focused on improving the process of a manufacturing company following customer orders. First, the theoretical starting points of improvement tools such as Lean Six Sigma are defined. Subsequently, the processed product and the company covering the production are introduced. Then, improvement tools are used to analyse the current state of the investigated process. The result is a proposal for a new solution, which is then evaluated, and the economic benefit is calculated.

The diploma thesis applies to Lean management and it´s application in administrative processes. The goal of diploma thesis is proposal to increase the value added activities and to reduce waste at the same time in the area of administration. The methods of Lean management as 7+1 waste, Kaizen, Lean office, Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma are applied in administrative processes in Shared service centre. These methods are evaluated by performance and productivity of processes.

This thesis is primary focused on optimization of the production process in a selected company.Teoretical part of this thesis is the result of literature research of Lean Six Sigma, which is mostly used by the company. It is a brief insight to an issue and introduction of the most often used tools from Lean Six Sigma methodology, which were used afterwards in practical part of this thesis. Also there is an introduction of the company and its production portfolio. Crucial part of this thesis is it‘s practical part focused on improving of current situation on the production line with an economical and technical assessment. The main goal was to create more compact and smaller area of product line with lower work in progress.
