Economics of Religion: Analysis of Contributions in the Roman Catholic Church in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis Economics of Religion: Analysis of Contributions in the Roman Catholic Church in the Czech Republic focuses on economics of religion in the enviroment of the Czech republic and especially the case of the Roman Catholic Church. The main aim of the thesis is to analyze the situation of the religious market and the role and position of the Roman Catholic Church within it, in regards to participation in religious institutions, voluntary donations etc. By studying the relationship between the state and church and it's determined financing system it is possible to set the model for the degree of financial participation of the church's members (voluntary contributions). By using a regression analysis, a hypothesis is tested on specific empirical data - the amount of voluntary contributions, (un)employment, age, size of the church, and percentage of women in the population.

Freedom of worship - its constitutional and statutory regulation and reflection in the caselaw of the Constitutional Cour

This thesis aims to analyze legislation of the Czech legal order concerning religious freedom. The work is divided in 4 parts. The first part of the thesis deals with the definition of religious freedom in the first place. Afterwards the thesis describes the Constitutional law relating to the religious freedom (especially the Article No. 15 and No. 16 of the Charter of the Fundamental Rights and Freedoms of the Czech Republic), international conventions relating to the theme (e.g. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights etc.) and further statutory provisions and legislative rules guaranteeing religious freedom in the Czech Republic. Major part of the thesis relating to the statutory provisions and legislative rules deals with the act No. 3/2002 Coll., on Freedom of religion and the status of churches and religious societies, as amended. The act No. 3/2002 Coll. constitutes basis of regularization of the freedom of religion in the Czech Republic. Various provisions of the act No. 3/2002 Coll. were subject to review of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic due to their unconstitutionality. The issue of church restitutions in Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue called church restitutions and the topic of the separation between churches and the state in the Czech Republic. Its main goal is to provide a comprehensive view on this controversial theme. The theoretical part provides basic definition of related concepts and contains a historical analysis of church property. The practical part consist of analysis of the Act. No. 428/2012 Coll. and highlights its strengths and weaknesses. It also contains some examples of contentious cases dealing with the return of church property. Based on this bachelor thesis we can say there is a many irregularities and critical points of adopted Act and we may find this topic very debatable.

Impact of church land ownership on land consolidation process

Bachelor thesis is focused on the historical development of the ownership of church property and its influence on the progress of land consolidation in the context of the so-called church restitution in the Czech Republic. Former church property was not included, after the change of regime, in the general restitution law and in the following years, the topic of these restitutions became one of the most important disputes of Czech policy and public discussions. At the end is presented the solution of property settlement with churches and religious societies.

NEW UPDATED MODEL APPROACH TO Self-financing churches and religious societies in the Czech Republic

The main objective of the thesis is to create a new model of financing church and religious society. We examined some available models that are used in states of European Union and described their benefits and disadvantages. Based on the empirical survey and statistical and others analyses we compiled an original concept of financing of churches and religious companies. We solved main practical problems that had been found more suitable economical model of self-financing and optimal relation among state and churches. The thesis brings the new concept of self-financing churches that takes of advantages for both sides (state and churches). Though it´s this thesis only a probe into mentioned problems, I hope that upgrade current knowledge about economy and financing churches and reopening space for others discussion and spring a way to new research in this specific environment non-profit sector.

Financování církví a náboženských společností: diskuse modelu financování pro Českou republiku

Diplomová práce se na pozadí vztahu mezi státem a církvemi věnuje problematice financování církví a náboženských společností v České republice. Teoretická část pojednává o historii vztahu státu a církve i typologii jejich soužití a představuje silné a slabé stránky šesti základních modelů financování. V analytické části jsou osvětleny majetkoprávní vztahy státu a církví v běhu českých dějin a v souvislosti s tím jsou uvedeny současné zdroje financování církví a náboženských společností v ČR a pro srovnání také ve čtyřech evropských zemích. Závěrečná část shrnuje dosažené výstupy a nabízí možná východiska pro optimální formování budoucího způsobu financování českých církví a náboženských společností.
