Determination of skin friction on a rough surface
Jonáš, Pavel ; Mazur, Oton ; Uruba, Václav
The problem of the skin friction determination in a rough wall boundary layer under external turbulent flow is discussed in the paper. A new measuring method using two parallel heated wires is outlined.
Design of experimental setup for investigation of nonstationary flow around vibrating wing
Uruba, Václav ; Jonáš, Pavel ; Tsymbalyuk, V.
In the paper motivation, methods and concept of intended experimental study of a boundary layer separation on moving wing is given. The model design suspended on a spring system with 2 degrees of freedom (displacement and rotation) is shown. The Time Resolved PIV method was suggested for measurement of both flow structure and wing position.
Vliv drsnosti povrchu a vnější turbulence na turbulentní mezní vrstvu
Jonáš, Pavel ; Mazur, Oton ; Uruba, Václav
The individual and joint effects of surface roughness and external flow turbulence on turbulent boundary layer were experimentally investigated in the closed circuit wind tunnel IT AS CR. Fundamental mean flow characteristics were measured in turbulent boundary layers either on a smooth plate or on the plate covered with the sandpaper (80- grits) under turbulent flow with the intensity of almost isotropic fluctuations from the natural value, of about 0.003 up to 0.05 and with the relevant length parameter from 2.2 mm up to 30.5 mm .
Numerická simulace aerodynamické interakce křídla a trupu
Šimurda, David ; Popelka, Lukáš ; Zelený, L. ; Matějka, Milan
In order to investigate and understand extent of the wing-body interaction effects taking place during operation of a particular self-launching sailplane, commercial code Fluent 6.3 was used for numerical simulation of flow past a simplified model of TST-10a. Several methods were used to identify vortex structures originating due to interference effects in this part of the aircraft. 3D effects and distortions of pressure and velocity distributions taking place in the junction of the body and the fuselage were observed.

Fořt, J. ; Dobeš, J. ; Fürst, J. ; Halama, J. ; Kozel, K. ; Louda, Petr ; Příhoda, Jaromír
The paper shows examples of the use of in-house developed numerical codes in the design procedure of a turbine blade cascade. Numerical results of the flow field in axial turbine stator cascade with alternative shapes of blade profiles achieved by these codes are presented. Further, effects of grid, numerical scheme and turbulence model on numerical results are discussed. A model of laminar/turbulent transition together with preliminary numerical results for flow through a stator turbine cascade is also presented.

Jonáš, Pavel ; Mazur, Oton ; Uruba, Václav
The results of experimental investigation of individual action and the joint action of the uniform sand roughness of the flat plate surface and homogeneous close to isotropy free stream turbulence on development the flat plate boundary layer are presented.
Aerodynamic criteria for assessing the performance of flapped airfoils applicable on wings of FAI 18m sailplanes were established by a questionnaire survey. CFD methods were used to calculate values of the criteria. Procedure of target function evaluation, enabling to take into account optimum flap deflection was developed and used for five different airfoils, typical for contemporary top-performance sailplanes. Possibility of drag coefficient reduction by transition control on the lower surface, while flap setting for circling, was studied. Surface flow visualization and integrating rake pressure measurement for optimum transition control was carried out on a high-performance sailplane HPH304S.
Řízení přechodu a odtržení mezní vrstvy na profilech a tělesech za podmínek volné atmosféry
Popelka, Lukáš ; Zelený, L.
The paper deals with visualisation of uncontrolled and controlled cases of boundary layer transition and separation carried out during in-flight measurements. Oil flow and tuft techniques have been applied. Influence of passive flow control devices to the performance of the entire aircraft has been established and importance of active and adaptive approach shown.
O stopách turbulence v průběhu zkráceného přechodu mezní vrstvy
Jonáš, Pavel ; Elsner, W. ; Mazur, Oton ; Uruba, Václav ; Wysocki, M.
The wall-friction records made in the transitional region of boundary layer were analysed using Narasimha's transitional intermittency concept and wavelet analysis. The distributions of the dimensionless spot production rates clarify the effect of outer stream turbulence structure on the course of laminar/turbulent boundary layer transition.
