The Oriental Institute in Prague: Cultural Department and the Orient

A substantial contribution to Oriental studies was founded with a new institution, the Oriental Institute. The idea was promoted by the Czechoslovak president T. G. Masaryk and by his advisor in Oriental politics, Alois Musil. The institute was financially supported by the ministry of Foreign trade, the main role played Minister Rudolf Hotowetz (first director of the Oriental Institute). The Oriental Institute was established in 1922 and financially and functionally stabilised in 1927/1928. There were no permanent salaried posts; however, the cultural section of the Institute financed publications and travel by means of fellowships and grants.

Micro-electromembrane extraction across multiple aqueous and organic phases for selective pretreatment of raw biological samples

Micro-electromembrane extraction (μ-EME) across multiple aqueous and organic\nsolutions was developed for selective extractions of various analytes from untreated\nbiological samples. The novel approach requires μL volumes of samples and organic\nsolvents, which form consecutive immiscible plugs in a transparent polymeric capillary\nand the extraction process is accelerated by application of d.c. voltage. Number of the\nplugs, their composition, volume and sequence in the extraction capillary can be chosen\nspecifically for each particular application and high variability and selectivity of the\nextraction process can be achieved. In this contribution, we demonstrate suitability of\na five-phase μ-EME system for simultaneous extractions of cations and anions from\nurine and for selective extractions of basic analytes based on their acid-base strength\nfrom plasma.

Permeation of VOC vapours through carbon nanotube network membranes controlled electrically

In this letter, we report the increase of permeation rates of some typical volatile organic compounds through entangled carbon nanotube networks by an electric current. The change in the permeation rate is reversible when the\ncurrent is turned off. The permeation rise is partly probably due to Joule effect and thus increased membrane temperature and vapor pressure in the vicinity of the inlet side of membrane. However, the effects of vapor polarity and electrostatic interaction of vapors and charged nanotubes seem to be also involved and contribute to the differentiation between alcohol and carbohydrate vapors permeation.

Tick-borne encephalitis - from pathogenesis to therapy

The proposed thesis contributes to the knowledge about tick-borne encephalitis and its pathogenesis. The thesis describes pathogenesis and immunopathogenesis of tick-borne encephalitis, impact of host's genotype in clinical course determination, immune response of patients with acute tick-borne encephalitis, the mechanism of tick-borne encephalitis virus migration into central nervous system and virus interaction with cells of neurovascular unit as well as potential medical interventions.

osobností našeho současného jevištního umění. Přibližuje její osobnost a
umělecký vývoj od studia tanečního umění k mimickému a fyzickému divadlu.
Představuje její přínos pro současné české fyzické divadlo a odkazuje na její
zahraniční úspěchy. Všímá si její úlohy jako spoluzakladatelky souborů
Theatro Pantomissimo a Spitfire Company. Mapuje tvorbu těchto souborů a
odkrývá pracovní i pedagogické postupy při přípravě autorských představení.

Daňová asignace a divadlo

Bakalářská práce si klade za cíl na základě analýzy systému podpory divadel v České republice, analýzy daňové soustavy České republiky a analýzy daňových asignací na Slovensku, vyzkoumat, zda by pro českou divadelní síť bylo toto opatření prospěšné a zda by stálo za to, zabývat se jeho zavedením do praxe. Práce se též zabývá dopadem zavedení asignace daně z příjmů na české veřejné rozpočty a průzkumem veřejného mínění. V rámci průzkumu bylo osloveno 120 respondentů, kteří byli dotazováni na jejich vztah ke kultuře a zda by byli pro zavedení možnosti asignace a na jakou oblast neziskového sektoru by přispěli. Na základě těchto kroků je pak navržen systém asignace vhodný pro Českou republiku.

Etienne Decroux a jeho metoda Le Mime Corporel

Tato práce pojednává o životě a díle Etienna Decrouxe, jednoho z nejvýznamnějších francouzských reformátorů divadla a jeho metodě Le Mime Corporel, která dodnes tvoří základ moderní pantomimy. Decroux je známý ve světě jako vynikající mim, režisér, pedagog, teoretik a reformátor divadla. Jeho přínos pro vývoj evropského divadla v minulém století je velmi významný, zejména pro mimické divadelní žánry. Práce přibližuje čtenáři Decrouxovu osobnost a jeho přínos pro pantomimu vytvořením nové metody mimického divadla - Le Mime Corporel. Další náplní práce je zmapovat významné vlivy různých osobností na umělecký vývoj Etienna Decrouxe, popsat základní prvky formující metodu Le Mime Corporel a porovnání s jinými žánry pohybového divadla.

NUMERICAL ESTIMATION OF MICRO-CRACK PATHS IN POLYMER PARTICULATE COMPOSITE

Determination of composite mechanical behavior is one of important part during the composite tailoring. The aim of the present work was to estimate a micro-crack behavior in a polymer particulate composite. The composite was investigated by means of the finite element method -using ANSYS software. A two-dimensional three-phase finite element model was developed to analyze the crack growth behavior. The assumptions of the linear elastic fracture mechanics were considered and the Maximum Tangential Stress (MTS) criterion was used to predict the direction of the crack propagation. The effect of the elastic modulus of the interphase on the micro-crack propagation was investigated. The properties of matrix and particles were taken from experiment. It was shown that the interphase properties influence the stress intensity factor KI as well as the micro-crack paths. The results of this paper can contribute to a better understanding of the micro-crack propagation in particulate composites with respect to the interphase.
