THE RELATION OF CHILDREN TO FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION

The thesis "The relation of children to foreign language education" deals with the relation of pupils learning foreign languages in selected South Bohemian primary schools. The theoretical part deals with the conception of teaching foreign languages in the first Elementary schools in the Czech Republic, participants in the learning process and motivation in language education and learning foreign languages in kindergartens. The practical part is devoted to the questionnaire research, which determines the relation of pupils to learn foreign languages and their attitudes to the importance of foreign language knowledge. The questionnaires were designed for students from 5th classes in ten elementary schools in South Bohemia.
Teaching English in Preschool Children

This thesis deals with the teaching English in preschool children. The first part of the thesis analyses developmental assumptions of preschool children for learning a foreign language. Moreover, it compares two different views of scientists, Piaget and Vygotskij, on the relationship between development and learning. The second part of the thesis characterizes the best-known methods in language teaching in preschool children in the Czech Republic. All five language schools reported use a direct unwitting method that is successful and natural way of language learning children up to the age of seven years old. The thesis highlights the advantages of each method and presents a concrete example of the use of their combination in practice.

Francophony in Tunisia

The thesis deals with the issue of French speech in Tunisia. It focuses on the French language since its introduction in the country until the present day, on the status of this language among other languages used in this Arab country and on the relationship of the locals to the language of the former colonizers. It is a sociolinguistic study, with the theoretical part showing the situation of the geography, history, culture and politics. As for the linguistic-theoretical part, it studies the French language in various areas of the social life and finally there is an assessment of specific examples of the use of French in the practical part. Within the theoretical part, we are evaluating the involvement of the International Francophone Organization in Tunisia.
Children with bilingual education in a kindergarten from the view of the family

The bachelor thesis is focused on the integration of children into the Czech kindergartens ? mainly from foreign citizen and immigrant families and also briefly the theme of Gypsy children. The theoretical part deals with the most frequent terms which we can encounter in this context and current opinions mentioned in the latest years literature which deals with the integration of foreigners into schools. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to see the approach of teachers from the chosen sample of the Czech kindergartens, teachers? treatment and their abilities to integrate the foreigners? children into the group. Above all, find out the opinion of quality and erudition of the Czech kindergartens through the interviews with parents. Through the observation is then possible to confront the reality. The results of research indicate the underestimation of serious situation, which concerns the integration of foreigners into schools from the point of view of educational institutions and legislators. The educations of kindergarten teachers is not developed enough in this way and there are emphasized another activities. The priority of this issue is the knowledge of the majority language - in the case of ignorance from the parents? site it could be the insurmountable obstacle for the child. Teacher´s treatment in the kindergarten becomes more intuitive matter because of the set system of education of foreign children. The issue is closely related to the education of parents who put the different emphasis on the education of their children. Research shows that there is a direct proportionality between the value of achieved education of parents and the ability and willingness of the child to learn to communicate the majority language.
Bilingualism and Codeswitching

The thesis focuses on the issue of bilingualism and codeswitching. Bilingualism is a natural phenomenon of more than half of the world's population. The thesis discusses all the possible definitions of bilingualism and of bilingual people. It briefly deals with the history of language development within Europe and then continues to discuss the situation of language development in the European Union. Codeswitching is inseparably connected with bilingualism as it is the act of switching between one language to another. Also closely connected with bilingualism is intercultural communication for which the simple knowledge of grammatical rules is not enough. The thesis has adopted the results of different research which are predominantly focused on modern methods of measuring human brain activity. So the essential questions which are connected with language growth, receiving of information and the formation of language systems are answered. The thesis also puts emphasis on the possibility of the growth of bilingualism to which the reasons are most often influenced by the environment or the effort for the search of employment.
Specific Features of the Orthography in the Dictionary of Clementinum (1455)

The paper focuses on the orthographical form of the Latin-Czech Dictionary of Clementinum from the middle of the 15th century. The orthographical form is determined by subjective and objective factors: the scribe’s orthographical habits and the specific characteristics of the dictionary text, including the bilingualism of the text and the brief record, consisting of subject words in the dictionary.
English Language Acquisition of Preschool Children in a Kindergarten Bilingual Classroom

The bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of a foreign language education (in this case ? the English education) in a bilingual classroom in the Czech kindergarten. The theoretical part describes the issue of bilingualism, the foreign language acquisition, and the conditions that are required for a successful education of preschool children in a foreign language. These are linked with the aims according to the Framework Education Programme for Preschool Education. The practical part is concerned with the research of the English language acquisition process and its results in the Dolphins? bilingual classroom in Mateřídouška kindergarten in Brno. The thesis also provides materials used in the programme and videos that show the methods and attitudes of the teachers in the given bilingual classroom.
Bilingualism in Spain: Spanish (Castilian) and Basque

The author of the thesis describes current tendences of the Castilian-basque bilingualism from the linguistic, social and political point of view. After the introduction to the general overview of the linguistic situation in Spain, the author geographically and historically specifies the Basque-speaking area and then she closely deals with the extension, typology, linguistic characteristics of the Basque language in comparison with the Castilian and its historical background. In the second part of the thesis focused on bilingualism, the author first generally identifies this phenomenon with the related problematic issues of its clasification and then she describes in details the bilingulistic scheme of the present Basque country, the evolution of the implementation of the Basque language into the school curriculum and its current position in education against the legislative background; later on the author defines linguistic models of the education system and programmes aimed to support the Basque language and culture in today´s Basque society. In the conclusion of the thesis, the author analyses her own qualitative research conducted among bilingual speakers in the Basque and Navarre Autonomous Communities. The thesis is written in Czech and contains a summary in Spanish.
