The main task of our project was the gallery of architecture at the intersection of Street Koliště and Milady Horakove Street, on the edge of the first city ring road, called Ringstrasse, a remnant of the city walls in Brno. In my design, I came mainly from operational and communication links of the surroundings of our plot. The proposed mass gives the impression of a closed corner of the city block. The subject of this proposal is a galery of architecture understood in a greater sense as a temple of architecture. Urbanism is together with layout and operating opportunities strictly subordinated to this strong theme. Emphasis coming out of urban-related solution is highlighting the subordination of the interrelations. Also, the concept of the predominantly artificial lighting of the galery is supporting the philosophy of the proposal as well as the stability of the illuminated exposition. The emphasis is also put on the exposed artwork and the way it can be admired without any disturbing factors.

The gallery of modern art, design and architecture is situated on Koliště and Milady Horákové corner in Brno. The concept is influenced by busy surroundings and peaceful silhouette of the city. The composition of the gallery is based on two simple blocks. One of them is concrete; the second – soaring part is paneled by corten. This is the contrast between administrative and exhibition part of the gallery. The building visually encloses the Kapitána Jaroše Boulevard. Multifunctional exhibition space is designed for many kinds of exposition. The most impressive element of the main exhibition hall is a beautiful view of the historical centre of Brno. There is upper day lighting in main hall. The other halls are artificially lighted or totally darkling during some multimedia exposition. White face concrete is the prevailing material in the interior of the gallery just like a reinforced concrete structure is the main structure of the building.

The basic volume is divided into two materials, one of which closes the city block and second accentuated corner. Accentuation is achieved vertical, but horizontal in the sense MASS MASS PAUSE MASS ! Based on the analysis of a smaller space gallery on the corner and area LABORARTORY center for the development of art. Art Lab creates the background for smaller mass gallery. Facades are united by noble material limestone. The contrast lies in the different dynamics of the grid buildings.
