Pluhařová, Markéta
Impact of leisure and social activites on quality of life among erderly in Europe - SHARE data analysis Abstract Due to demographic aging, the quality of life of an increasing proportion of seniors is becoming more important than ever. According to activity theory and the concept of active aging, active life is a way to experience good old age. The diploma thesis focuses on the impacts of leisure and social activities on the quality of life of elderly over 65 in 17 European countries. Sixth wave data from The Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) from 2015 and the easySHARE panel dataset are analyzed using binary regression analysis and multilevel modeling using binary regression analysis. The relationship of 11 selected activities, which were divided for the needs of this thesis into social, individual activities and activities aimed at helping others, and quality of life is controlled for socio-economic, demographic and health characteristics. Quality of life is meassured using the CASP-12 indicator. For social and individual activities, active elderly have a higher chance of a high quality of life (CASP-12 score> 39) than inactive. Elderly who do not provide personal care assistance to people from the same household also have a better chance than caregivers. Key words ageing, ageing of...

Adaptation of seniors when entering the residential service of a retirement home
FRANK, Jakub
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of aging and adaptation of elderly people during the transition to a residential facility for the elderly. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the definition of terms, characteristics and problematic aspects related to ageing. In the following chapters, the thesis deals with the social environment, social care, highlights the goals and priorities of geriatric care, deals with the quality of life of the elderly and identifies factors affecting this quality, including preparation for old age. Emphasis is placed on the factors supporting the adaptation of seniors in residential services for the elderly and the possibilities of adaptation through activation activities. The aim of the study was to find out what factors help seniors in the adaptation process when entering a residential service home for the elderly and to what extent the adaptation process during the transition from the home environment to a home for the elderly affects the successful adaptation to the satisfaction of the elderly. In the research part, a quantitative research strategy conducted by interviewing technique is used. The main factors of adaptation are investigated when entering a residential service for the elderly home and their influence on the change in the elderly's behaviour as a result of the change in social environment and established habits is also examined. A 29 questionnaire is used to obtain information on the aforementioned factors, which was administered to 120 elderly home users. Based on the research, it was found that the factors influencing the adaptation process of seniors when entering a home for the elderly can be very diverse and depend on many aspects, including the individual personality traits of the elderly, the conditions and environment of the home for the elderly itself, as well as support from the family and social environment. This paper contributes to a better understanding of the adaptation process and provides suggestions on how to facilitate the adaptation process.
The need for intimacy of male patients 65+
BAMBÁSKOVÁ, Diana
This work focuses on the issue of intimacy among patients aged 65 and over in a hospital setting. The aim was to examine the specifics of intimacy needs, perceptions of intimacy maintenance, and healthcare professionals' approach to these needs. The theoretical part addressed definitions and delineations of basic concepts such as need, intimacy, human dignity, ethics, mandatory confidentiality, and patient rights. The empirical part was conducted through qualitative research, involving interviews with patients aged 65 and over and healthcare professionals. The results confirmed that men in this age group exhibit a high sensitivity to maintaining their privacy and dignity during hospitalization. They also showed a willingness to communicate with healthcare professionals about their intimacy needs. It was found that individual intimacy needs vary greatly and depend on patients' personal preferences, health status, and lifestyle. The conclusions underscore the importance of providing individualized care that respects these differences and highlight the need for further exploration of this issue.

Analysis of ageing of selected materials used in sewage systems
Horák, Marek ; Stanko,, Ing Štefan (referee) ; Tlolka, Jan (referee) ; Raclavský, Jaroslav (advisor)
The doctoral thesis deals with analysis of the ageing of concrete and reinforced concrete pipes in sewage systems. The ageing of the sewage system is caused by several reasons, for example material abrasion, chemical and biological corrosion and subsequent static overload sewer construction. One of the common causes of degradation of sewage systems made from materials bonded with cement sealant is biogenic sulphate corrosion. Due to the corrosion the degradation of the pipe walls accelerates, particularly in upper part of the pipe and reduces planned lifetime of the sewage system. There is proposed new ageing analysis monitoring method for observation and evaluation of the loss of thickness of concrete and reinforced concrete pipes, which is caused by biogenic sulphate corrosion. Residual lifetime is calculated from the expected corrosion rate, it`s the loss of wall thickness on the monitored section of the sewer system. There is designed the monitoring system of the loss of wall thickness on the sewage system for practical application of the measurement procedure, which is administrated in cooperation with the BVK, a. s. The thesis uses existing knowledge regarding this subject. We use this information for better understanding of the process of the loss of wall thickness in sewage systems in real time and the posibility to correct and in-time implementation of appropriate operational measures. This should cause the limitation of the degradation process of piping material while extended service life and safe operation in sewage systems within the required time period. Based on the methodology is proposed to determine the residual life of the sewage system and maintenance and rehabilitation can be done more effectively. There is needed to be noted that only long-term monitoring period can bring a better overview of the technical condition of sewage systems in time and thus better and more effective maintenance and rehabilitation, which is related to the effective u
