Fire as an alternative way of the landscape management
Maximov, Fedor ; Novák, Jan (advisor) ; Adámek, Martin (referee)
Prescribed burning is a method that has been used since prehistoric times to keep unforested areas. In pastures, fire was used to remove dead biomass, return nutrients to the soil and improve forage quality, as well as to convert forests fields to a shifting agriculture. The abandonment of burning in the last century has led to an accumulation of plant biomass in the landscape. This, combined with global warming, is now creating the threat of dangerous fires. In 2022, controlled burning was allowed in the Czech Republic as a way of managing habitats that are at risk of becoming woodland without proper management. Rare heliophilous plant and animal species are tied to them. It would therefore be advisable to reintroduce this management method, together with monitoring and control of its effects on species and communities. The aim of this backelor thesis is to summarise the existing knowledge about prescribed burning in Europe. It also describes how controlled burning affects the dynamics of dry grasslands and heathlands. The main focus is on attributes of controlled burning that can be used to maintain selected habitats. Keywords: fire, vegetation, landscape management, succession
Potravní ekologie koní v kontextu ochranářského managementu krajiny
HÁJKOVÁ, Pavlína
This thesis provides a review of knowledge available on wild and feral horse feeding ecology, habitat preferences, competition overlap with other herbivores and their impact on vegetation. In summary, horses appear valuable for management of grasslands, but less suitable for regulation of shrubs and trees, especially when they are compared to cattle and cervids, which are more able to eliminate woody plants. Together with a tabular overview of literature on feeding ecology and plant taxa eaten by horses in the Holarctic realm, an optimalized protocol is provided to facilitate proper field collection of data about the feeding ecology and behavioral repertoire in large ungulates.
Management zemědělského podniku a životní prostředí
Baštýřová, Jiřina ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Šlesinger, Jaromír (referee)
The objective of the present thesis is to evaluate economic activities of a medium-sized agricultural farm in a real environment. The theoretical part of the thesis is engaged with the problems of the current scale of use of the landscape by farmers who continue to lay emphasis primarily on the economic function. Subsequently, in pursuance of our research, an alternative method of farming, i.e. organic farming, is described, along with the contemporary situation of this sphere in the Czech Republic. The last chapter of the theoretical part examines the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU and the tools thereof. In the framework of our research, the area of interest in which the farm observed works is described, and processes of the farm´s economic activities and economic evaluation are delineated. Next, environmentally-friendly landscape measures are proposed which take into consideration both the ecologic and social functions. This method of farming is evaluated in terms of economy and this evaluation includes an outline of the problems of the system of subsidies

Landscape Management in the Village Křeč
Dvořáčková, Hana ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Lukášová, Tereza (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis deals with landscape Management of the administrative boundaries of the village Křeč. The aim of the thesis is to gain and draw up documents for management decision making in matters of long-term sustainable drinking water supplying for the village. It will be examined hydrological water area network, identified quality of drinking water and found potential sources of drinking water pollution. Within the municipality Křeč will be performed research concerning the issue whether the landscape is able to hold water when exposed to climate change. The research will be focused on monitoring the groundwater level. This will be achieved through underground wells - probes, rainfall measurement and brook flow at the local brook measurement. It will be proposed an appropriate measure that will lead to drainage stabilization, prevention against erosion occurrence and in the end will improve the resulting landscape.
Fast-growing Trees as a Tool for Preventing the Impacts of Climate Change
Humešová, Tereza ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Weger, Jan (referee)
This work was created as a response to the drought in the summer of 2015, which revealed the risks associated with a lack of moisture in the soil due to inadequate management landscape. The main objective is to select areas in the chosen territory where it would be desirable to implement measures that would lead to stabilization of drainage conditions, and support the landscape and territorial system of ecological stability (biodiversity). In addition to creating the appropriate landscape features and the introduction of environmentally friendly agricultural crops eligible planting fast-growing trees (FGT), which on agricultural land, for the interest of stabilizing of drainage conditions, in many ways irreplaceable alternate functions of the forest. This culture is therefore paid special attention; Work has focused on the estimation of the possible production of wood and possibility of its eventual use.The study is prepared as a possible basis for practical solutions to complex land arrangements in the cadastral areas. It was found that the FGT would be advisable to cultivate an area of up to 2461 ha.
Landscape Management in the Water Resources Area of Bukovsko
Písková, Jana ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Hiršová, Miloslava (referee)
The aim of this work is to evaluate the state of the landscape and the risks to water resources in the Dolní Bukovsko and propose appropriate measures to prevent pollution. This tool can be complex land consolidation , which in this area have still not been implemented. The theoretical part deals with general ground water potential threats, the impact of those threats and the basic characteristic of the northern part of the Trebon Basin, where the region of Lower Bukovska located. In the practical part is assessed in detail selected areas in terms of potential threats to water resources and proposes appropriate preventive measures to avoid this risk. These measures may be the basis for the implementation of complex land consolidation, which would also improve the environment and landscape features in this area.
Management of the Headwater Area of Jihlava River
Sviták, Jan ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Duchek, Stanislav (referee)
This Bachelor work deals with the management of the headwater area of the Jihlava River. The work is based on the detected state of the headwater area of the Jihlava River, which is currently very ecologically unstable from the reasons of the improper regulations and agricultural interventions. This situation is described and evaluated in the work. On the base of the results such corrective measures are suggested, which lead to ecological stability increase in the headwater basin, especially regarding drainage conditions. This measures can serve as the base for the initiation and realization of comprehensive landscape adjustments. For these purposes the management of the individual municipalities will be asked for their opinion regarding the realization of the comprehensive landscape adjustments.
Landscape Management of Catchment Dam Dalešice
Kunčíková, Aneta ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Duchek, Stanislav (referee)
This thesis deals with land management in the catchment area of the dam Dalešice. Water work Dalešice lies on the Jihlava river, which is contaminated water by phosphorus, nitrogen and organic matters. Jihlava river is the main source of process water for cooling nuclear power plant requiring a certain quality that can be used for cooling of nuclear reactors. The primary aim is to assess the condition of the landscape model in Střížovský creek, which is one of the many tributaries of the Jihlava river above water works Dalešice. Based on the utilization coefficient of ecological stability, evaluation of the territorial system of ecological stability, quality watercourse mapping of the occurrence of significant landscape elements, landscape were outlined measures which will help improve the state of the landscape in the area of catchment, stabilize runoff (quality, quantity) and increase the resilience of the landscape in relation to ongoing climate change.
Analysis of landscape changes during the complex landscape management
HEJMAN, Martin
This diploma thesis was written to analyze and evaluate the changes of the landscape in selected cadastral communities with a finished complex landscape management. The analysis was completed in four time periods. It included a historical time period in 1952, a period before the landscape management, a period during the designing of landscape management and the present condition of the landscape. Changes that appeared in the landscape were evaluated for land use, the permanent landscape structure, the density of the road network and ecotones. According to the results of the diploma thesis it is possible to find out how the complex landscape management project for individual studied areas contributed on the progress of the changes of the landscape.
