Wernerová, Valerie ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of the thesis was to create an architectural study of the revitalization of part of the building of the former Augustinian monastery in Šternberk, including its surroundings and garden. It was essential to find a new functional use of neglected spaces and determine the overall concept of the object's functioning. The building of the former monastery is to serve as a place for rest, cultural development and relaxation in a demanding era. It is functionally divided into two parts that intertwine. Firstly, it is a part intended primarily for the local population, for concerts, theaters, cultural days, social events... that is, for social and cultural enjoyment. The second part is aimed at people looking for a change of environment, relaxation in a pleasant space with high-quality facilities and recharging new energy. Within the monastery, pleasant accommodation has been created with spaces for rest, sports, relaxation, but also remote work. Both functions complement each other, the space of the restaurant, cafe or beer hall serve both residents and staying guests. The small wellness centre is also open to those interested from Šternberk as well as a gym, an open library or a beautifully landscaped garden that encourages relaxation for both locals and guests. A significant input into the architecture is the arrangement of the inner courtyard. Roofing of the courtyard, which is open today, is proposed. At the same time, a new staircase and an elevator are added in the courtyard. In the monastery grounds, it is possible to pass from east to west through the accessible monastery garden, in which parts of the English park intertwine with the baroque garden. In the south-western part, a underground garage is being built, hidden under green roof connected to the garden.

The task of the diploma thesis was the development of an architectural study of the restoration of the former Augustinian monastery in Šternberk city and the compositional layout of the adjacent area. Since 1993, the monastery has been owned by the Šternberk municipality, which is trying to gradually revitalize it. The goal of the proposal is to carefully use the existing building and make the monastery garden accessible to the public. In response to the demands of the investor and the coexistence of the church, a primary art school, restaurant, wine bar, hotel, ceremony hall and exhibition spaces were designed in the building. The inner atrium was covered by glass roof and completed with an elevator and stairs. In connection with the proposed functional use and due to inadequate access to the premises, an underground parking lot was placed in the western part with the possibility of entry to the courtyard in front of monastery. Two new entrances were created to the garden, connecting Opavská street with Zahradní street.

The former Augustinian monastery is declared a cultural monument and is located in the urban conservation area of Šternberk. The architectural study deals with the building of the monastery and modifications of the adjacent area. In the monastery building there is a spa accommodation with spa treatments, wellness, a restaurant with restaurant kitchen and a café. From the underground part, access is provided to the garden, where separate outdoor sauna cells with cooling ponds are designed. Furthermore, the underground floor is used as a technical background. On the second floor there are rooms for the guests, spa treatments such as massages, beauty treatments and baths, as well as the administrative part of the hotel. On the third floor there are also rooms for guests, an examination room with facilities, exercise rooms, a ballroom, a studio, a kitchen with a day room, a virtual room and an apartment for the area manager. Sarvašová, Anna ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis was an architectural study of the restoration proposal of the Augustinian monastery Šternberk. The building is owned by the city, whose task is to create new functions and uses for the abbey. The city did not concretize the plans for the construction of the monastery, it was more about a vision of the future and the discovery of new possibilities. Based on the analysis of the existing domain, conclusions are drawn about the use of new functions. The abbey is centrally located and is operationally and structurally connected to the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. The monastery also has a garden, which is currently inaccessible and unused. The plan is to revitalize the garden and build an underground parking lot that will serve the monastery and the city. The garden will be open to the public and at the same time will allow access to another part of the city. Revival of the monastery and its gardens should make the location more attractive and attract people to the city. The goal of the proposal is to create a high-quality public environment in the historic core of Šternberk..

Mařák, Dominik ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The aim of this master’s thesis is to elaborate an architectural study with design of restoration and renewal of formal Augustinian monastery in city of Šternberk. Rearrangement of adjacent exterior spaces are also included in this proposal. The proposed concept is based on requirements and initiatives gained from current owners and wardens, who whish to revitalize the monastery into center culture and education with connection to accommodation and dinning possibilities, also small brewery is included. In my design of restoration of this monastery I take account of owner’s wishes and even extend the possibilities which this place offers. The main function and utilization of this place is considered as cultural and educational center, as it also served this purpose in past. It is crucial that this place is more open and permeable for free movement of people, where they can relax and spend their free time. The building of the monastery is conceived as multifunctional with spaces for organizing cultural and social events, galleries, hostel, free time center, restaurant, cafeteria, small brewery and underground pub. Currently the areas around the monastery do not allow free access and passage to the wide public. With proposed new entrances into the monastery grounds from north, east and west sides the proposed area is more permeable and the connection between historic center and east side of the city is elaborated.
Restoration of the monastery in Šternberk
Valentová, Alžběta ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis was the preparation of an architectural study and proposal for a new use of part of the historical buildings of the monastery in Šternberk. The study deals with a complex of buildings that form an enclosed courtyard and two wings extending south into the garden. On the other side, the complex adjoins the cloister with the Garden of Eden and the adjacent building of the rectory, which surrounds the lower courtyard. The solution considers the use of this part of the monastery for the operation of the Higher Vocational School of Arts and Crafts together with the operation of exhibition and social spaces for the public. The reconstruction respects the original architecture of the building in all preserved details and elements. The main intervention in the external shape of the complex is the roofing of the courtyard, which creates an atrium and, thanks to it, a fully functional connection of the area. In the interior, as a result of the traffic that takes place on all floors, a new main staircase and a panoramic elevator have been built. This capacity connection of the floors enables the full operation of the school and social spaces for the public. The operation is divided in normal mode into the school and public parts, each of them has its own entrance and social facilities. The new auditorium serves as a relaxation area for students, but it can be opened to the public in the event of larger events and concerts and other social events can be held here. A restaurant, cafe and basement club are available for all types of operations. The proposal also included a solution to park improvements and new parking capacity.

Restoration of the monastery in Šternberk
Pecháčková, Lucie ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of the thesis is an architectural study of the restoration and new use of the historic building of the former monastery in Šternberk and the surrounding garden. The monastery is owned by the city, which is looking for a usage for it. The goal of the proposal is to give this monument a new life, i.e. to make it town‘s living part, which will have not only historical, but also contemporary social significance. And thanks to this, it also will have the means for its maintenance and preservation of historical values for future generations. This purpose of the study is solved by creating a pleasant and easily accessible garden environment and by choosing the content of the building, which will give people a reason to visit and use the monastery grounds more. The architectural design is based on an analysis of the current situation and freely reflects the ideas of the town management. And at the same time, from the point of view of historic preservation, the proposal strives for the greatest possible degree of preservation or restoration of valuable historical building constructions and details. The new content of the building is a hotel with wellness, a restaurant, a cafe, offices and a coworking center, exhibition spaces, art studios and a multifunctional town hall. The building is complemented by new architectural elements of the central staircase with elevator and the atrium roof, which, like the park arrangement of the garden, combine contemporary architecture with the concept of baroque morphology.
