Isogeometric contact analysis: a study of an explicit dynamic contact algorithm
Kopačka, Ján ; Gabriel, Dušan ; Kolman, Radek ; Plešek, Jiří
The isogeometric NURBS based variant of symmetry preserving explicit FE contact-impact algorithm, has been proposed. The algorithm was studied by means of a numerical example, which involves 2d frictionless dynamic Hertz contact problem of two equally shaped cylinders. The attention was paid to the influence of different lumping techniques on the oscillations of contact force and contact pressure. The standard Lagrange finite elements were compared with the NURBS isogeometric elements. Both the first and second order were considered.
Finite element simulation of aeroelasticity problems
Horáček, Jaromír ; Sváček, P. ; Feistauer, M.
The paper presents results achieved by the authors in development of in-house codes based the finite element (FE) method and applied to solution of fluid-structure problems in aeroelasticity of airfoils. We consider flexibly supported airfoil with two- or three degrees of freedom (2- or3-DOF) in two-dimensional (2D) incompressible viscous flow. The airfoil vibration is described by nonlinear ordinary differential equations of motion for large vibration amplitudes. The flow is medeled by the Navier-Stokes equations for laminar flow or by the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations for turbulent model.
One-dimensional dispersion analysis of B-spline based finite element method
Kolman, Radek ; Plešek, Jiří ; Okrouhlík, Miloslav ; Gabriel, Dušan
The dispersion bahaviour of B-spline finite element method is studied and compared with classical finite element method using the Lagrangian interpolation polynomials.

Okrouhlík, Miloslav
The contribition deals with applications of Fourier series, Fourier integral and Fast Fourier transform to stress wave phenomena in solid mechanics.
Implementation of a sparse direct solver for large linear systems
Pařík, Petr
This article describes the implementation of an effective sparse direct solver for large finite element problems. The fundamental parts of the solver--the renumbering method and the matrix storage scheme--are explained in detail. A comparison with another direct solver based on the frontal method is also included.
History variational calculus
Höschl, Cyril
This paper present a short historical overview of evolution of infinitesimal and variotional calculus. Some of the classical variational problems ara formulated and described.
Notes on the procedure line search
Höschl, Cyril
Modifications of the procedure line search in programms solving systems of nonlinear algebraic equations are analysed and commented.
Implementation of modelling of creep with damage to system PMD
Korouš, Jan ; Masák, J. ; Křístek, A.
The paper introduces different constitutive relations used bythe damage modelling in case of structures working in high temperaturecreep conditions. The capabilities of the FEM calculation system PMDare shown, which enable the modelling of the creep effects.
