The system of political parties in Czech Lands and in Bavaria between 1861 and 1914. Similarities and differences.

This study intends to make a comparison of the Czech Lands and Bavaria between 1861 and 1914 in terms of their systems of political parties. The study is based on the assumption that there were two levels of high politics for Bavaria and for the Czech Lands – at the levels of province and empire. The study focuses in particular on what way this similar political structure was reflected in the systems of Czech, Moravian and Bavarian political parties.
The Comparison of Absolutist Forms of Government in Bavaria and Bohemia in 17th and 18th Centuries

The regions, which was divided by mutual border since Middle Ages, have a lot of historical similarities and parallels. This study focused on the political resemblances between Bavaria and Bohemia in 17th and 18th centuries, in the period of absolutism. Above all we can see the relationship to Habsburg dynasty, which ruled hereditary in Bohemia. The Habsburgs concurrently were the Heads of Holy Roman Empire, which was important for Bavaria. The considerable similarities we can find in the internal politics as well: both the Habsburgs and the Wittelsbachs tried to marginalize the Diets and other representations of the estates for example.

Ten years after the issue of „Bayern und Böhmen: Kontakt, Konflikt, Kulturʺ, Collegium Carolinum published a cross-sectional work on the parallel Czech and Bavarian past of the last 1500 years. The sumitted essays of this publication can be divided into three types: the type A comproses divergent prosesses with weak interactions, the type B comprises cases that indicate homogeneous phenomena or converged proces with significant external influences, the type C captures mutually strongly interconnected proces where, in addition to the general external effects, a fundamental impulse of one of the investigated regions made an impact.
