Altmetrics: An alternative route for evaluation of the impact of scientific articles

Trends in measuring of the impact of research results does not change often. The number of citations is still a traditional way how to quantitative measure the impact of the articles on the scientific community. The presentation will be discussed how innovative Altmetrics tool that uses social networks. It will be offered a comparison between this instrument and the current situation. Do these methods affect the sharing of scientific information? Are social networks the right way for measuring the quality of scholarly publications?

Open Data and where to put them?

Open Data enhance the information transfer, save money and increase the transparency of scientific communication. Lately Open Data have become a trend across many research fields. Selected legal aspects of Open Access

This presentation will focus on practical legal problems connected with the application of the Open Access practice to scientific papers. Attention will be mainly paid to the Creative Commons licenses and their use in OA, the legal aspects of building a green OA repository and legal issues of self-archiving. These issues will be addressed from the position of author, institution and commercial publishers. Theoretical discussions of the above mentioned problems will be supplemented by practical examples and experience from building OA repository at the Masaryk University.

Open Access in Horizon 2020 and the European Research Area

This presentation provides an overview of the open access activities of the European Commission as a policy maker and major funder of scientific research through the FP7 and Horizon 2020 framework programmes as well as activities in the European Research Area (ERA). Furthermore the Commission also encourages national policy initiatives on access to, dissemination and preservation of scientific information.
