The article deal with personality Marie Gebauerová, daughter of prominent Czech philologian Jan Gebauer. She was girl-graduate of Czech Pedagogium (the school for education of teachers) then she function in Prague´s schools. She was literal activ, wrote stories for children, textbooks, she is authoress of Family memories and many of studies of Božena Němcová. She traveled around the Europe, wrote detailed itinerary and published her experiences in journals.

Considering the extent of the topic, I focused on four aspects of education and their relation to artistic orientation and production of women. The most important was literature, in which more women than in other areas searched for artistic reflection of reality. The saloons played their own irreplaceable role for the communication of information and views on arts. Since the 1860s, under more relaxed political situation, various women organisations began to flourish, often promoting orientation to artistic education. Also a broad impact on Czech society had professional interest of women in traditional artistic production.

The given text, a part of more extensive work on the theme Czech and Slovak Students at the Bauhaus, was devoted a several women – artists from former Czechoslovakia. The women studied architecture, textile design and photography at the Bauhaus in 1919 to 1933 and they came from Czech, Slovak, German and German-Jewish background of the Czech Republic. Any art-historical work has not engaged in this theme yet. A lot of information go on extensive research into Czech and foreign archives.
