Oil conversion to free fatty acids was measured for the reaction of refined blackcurrant oil and water, both dissolved in supercritical carbon dioxide, in a continuous-flow packed-bed reactor filled with immobilised lipase Lipozyme and glass beads at 15 MPa and 40 C. The enzyme amount and the flow rate were varied. The reaction kinetics was simulated with mathematical models for plug flow and ideal mixer.

It is known that acidity of supports plays a positive role in HDN. Thus, the Pt-Mo system was now deposited on a more acidic support than alumina, i.e. on an amorphous silica-alumina (ASA) in attempt to further enhance the HDN activity and HDN/HDS selectivity. The objective was to find how acidic support may affect the catalytic properties of the Pt-Mo system. The strongest effect was observed in HDN.

Experimental study has been carried out of hydrogenation of styrene and dicyclopentadiene in a catalytic egg-shell type catalyst reactor under elevated pressure on a pilot plant scale. A mathematical model has been developed of the hydrogenation under periodic variations of the inlet liquid rate.

A mathematical model has been developed of the cocurrent trickle bed hydrogenation reactor operating under periodically variable inlet feed rate of liquid. The model calculates the periodic changes of the hydrodynamics of the reactor and the time variations of the temperature and conversion profile within the bed and at the reactor outlet.
