The goal of this thesis is to provide a literature review on methods for searching of LTR retrotransposons in the human genome. The thesis characterizes the potential problems related to a given topic and provides implementation of novel suitable searching algorithm. The result of algorithms containing all found LTRs were statistically compared with several existing tools for de novo identification of retroelements.
