Laboratory exercise - EDFA amplifier
Mahút, Michal ; Münster, Petr (oponent) ; Dejdar, Petr (vedoucí práce)
The bachelor thesis is describing in detail a scheme of an EDFA optical amplifier consisting of appropriate components, insertion of the device and software deployment. The whole thesis is divided into several categories. First theoretical analysis of optical-fiber cables that describes the types of optical-fiber cables, limiting phenomena affecting signal transmission in optical fibers, wave multiplexing and optical amplifiers. The implementation of the connection was built on the Red Pitaya platform, which controls the control of the MOT350_35100GC laser pump. The software controlling the EDFA amplifier was created in the LabView development environment. The appropriate connection of the pump source and the choice of the length of the erbium fiber to achieve the highest possible gain of reinforcement was verified experimentally. Part of the bachelor's thesis is a laboratory task, acquainting the solver with the problem of optical amplifiers with measurement of gain for various configurations of pump source, erbium fiber and pump power.
Broadband over powerline modem
Mahút, Michal ; Šilhavý, Pavel (oponent) ; Musil, Petr (vedoucí práce)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to look into the issues of Broadband Over Powerline Communication, design and construct a BPL modem. The theoretical part of the thesis covers the division and description of Powerline Communication, its standards, and factors affecting communication over electrical wiring. The practical part includes the design of a printed circuit board for the BPL modem with the selection of necessary components for the modem construction. The output of the thesis is a constructed broadband PLC modem, whose transmission properties and interference resistance are compared with commercially available solutions.
Impact of devices connected to powerline on selected BPL topologies
Mahút, Michal ; Musil, Petr
The following article deals with the impact of device originated noise on BPL (Broadband over powerline) communication for different topologies of BPL modems. In household scenario, every device connected to power line has an impact on transmission spectrum and limits throughput. Different topologies and two types of devices were tested and evaluated. The aim of this article is to determine the appropriate connection of BPL modems into the powerline with the lowest possible decrease of data throughput.
