The Master’s thesis are focused on the degradation study of magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents, which are nowadays widely used in the countries with well developed healthcare system. These compounds can be found in the wastewater treatment plans effluent. This indicates, that the conventional water treatment processes are not sufficiently effective in terms of contrast agents removal. Only a little is known about the degradation of gadolinium-based contrast agents. The photocatalytical degradation process and ozonation of chosen compound gadobutrol was followed by: total organic carbon measurements, thermal lens microscopy and spectrophotometry.
