Development of hybrid technology for the production of polymer latice structures

This thesis deals with the development of a hybrid technology for the production of polymeric rod structures from PLA filament. The main objective of this technology is to increase the printing productivity by forming some of the rods in BCCXYZ structure without melting them completely. The first step was to conduct basic research on polymer forming. This involved a series of tests, including FEM simulations, printing of individual strut members, and analysis of morphology using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The results confirmed the feasibility of polymer forming, which led to further development of hybrid printing technology for BCCXYZ structures. The fabricated structures were subjected to compression loading tests and compared with the results of other printing technologies, including their production costs. In this way, the advantages of the hybrid filament rod structure printing technology were identified. To demonstrate the technology, a mould simulating a fibreglass part was created. This research contributes to the advancement of polymer structure printing and has the potential to improve the efficiency and economic viability of the process in industrial applications.
Influence of calcined clays on the properties of cement pastes

V této práci byl studován vliv kalcinovaných jílů na vlastnosti portlandského cementu. Jíly a jílové materiály jsou studovány již mnoho let, přičemž nejvíce studovaný jíl je kaolín a kalcinovaný kaolín. Avšak kvůli změnám ekonomické situace původně levné materiály, např kaolín, zdražily. Vzhledem k důležitosti ekonomické stránky byly v této práci používany primárně jílové materály, které by bylo možné považovat za odpadní. Studovali jsme směs přírodních a syntetických jílů získaných z okolí Brna v České Republice, což je region bohatý na ložiska jílů. Tyto jíly byly analyzovány, kalcinovány, pomlety a byla u nich změřena pucolánová aktivita. Nově schválená norma ČSN EN 197-5 povoluje až 65% náhradu cementu jinými materiály, např jíly, což je téměř dvojnásobek v porovnání s původní maximální náhradou 35 %. Z toho důvodu byly v této práci připraveny cementovo-jílové směsi s až 70% obsahem jílu. Bylo zjištěno, že cementovo-jílové směsi s 60% obsahem jílu vykazovaly mechanické vlastnosti přinejhorším srovnatelné s referenčním vzorkem portlandského cementu, v některých případech měly tyto směsi dokonce lepší mechanické vlastnosti. Směsi s obsahem jílu kolem 30-40 % měly všeobecně lepší mechanické vlastnosti než referenční vzorek. Ze studovaných materiálů měly směsi připravené z jílu z opuštěné cihelny nejlepší ohybovou pevnost. Při stáří 28 dní měly směsi až o 60% vyšší ohybovou pevnost než referenční vzorek. Nejvyšší tlakovou pevnost vykazovaly cementovo-jílové směsi připravené z glaukonitického jílu. S rostoucím obsahem jílu tlaková pevnost klesala. V 90 dnech při 10% obsahu jílu měla směs o 60 % vyšší pevnost než referenční vzorek. Při 60% obsahu jílu byla pevnost ve srovnání s referenčním vzorkem o 26,5 % vyšší. Použití těchto cementovo-jílových směsí se zdá být slibné díky dobrým mechanickým vlastnostem a z ekonomického a ekologického hlediska. Tyto cementovo-jílové směsi by mohly snížit emise oxidu uhličitého a zároveň být levnější než portlandský cement.
Development and characterization of micro-reference electrodes for bioelectronics applications

The subject of this work was the construction and long term stability measurement of micro-reference electrodes based on anodized silver wire and titanium wire with Ag/AgCl paste. A measuring apparatus, with which the long term stability was measured, was constructed as a part of this work. These days, commercial reference electrodes are available on the market. These reference electrodes are characterized by their excellent long term stability, however, they are too large and too expensive to be used in bioelectronic systems. Because of this, the science community has been trying to miniaturize reference electrodes in the past years. Without reference electrodes, it is impossible to do most electrochemical measurements. Based on the long term stability of measured samples it was determined which of the samples meet the criteria for bioelectronic measurements. It was also determined which of the studied samples were most suitable. The last result of this work is a measuring apparatus that can measure the long term stability of up to thirty-two electrodes.
Conceptual design of a gear tester for space applications

This bachelor thesis deals with the creation of a conceptual design of gears tester for space applications. The tester must simulate space conditions and test whether the gear can operate in those conditions. It is more important to test the wheel material than its geometry. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, a search of current knowledge of the issue is created. The second part describes several conceptual designs of testers and their models. Subsequently, a concept that can most faithfully simulate real conditions in low orbit is selected and described in detail. The final design of this concept will facilitate the testing of gears and minimize their failure rate during operation.
