Precipitation of Secondary Phases in Power Plant Steels Studied by STEM
Buršík, Jiří ; Svoboda, Milan ; Fejfarová, Ivana
Secondary phase precipitates in CSN 42 2740 and 42 2747 steels were studied by means of analytical transmission electron microscopy. The composition of primary VC and M7C3 precipitates was found relatively stable throughout the time series and less sensitive to nominal alloy composition (differin principally in Mo and W content for the two studied alloys) compared to the secondary VC and Mo2C precipitates.
Creep Resistance and Microstructural Stability of TAF 650 Steel
Svoboda, Milan ; Fejfarová, Ivana ; Kroupa, Aleš ; Sklenička, Václav ; Mayer, K. H.
The quantification of the particles of M23C6 and Laves phase in TAF 650 steel by means of image analysis and thermodynamic calculation of the amount of equilibrium phases were performed. It is shown that the growth rate of Laves phase is substantially higher than that of M23C6 carbide. The total area occupied by Laves phase precipitates represents 52.1 % of all particles area after creep (5888h, 100 MPa, 650 °C). The equilibrium amount of secondary phases calculated by THERMO-Calc is in good agreement with experimental results.
Microstructural changes in creep of TAF 650 steel at 650řC
Svoboda, Milan ; Dlouhý, Antonín ; Fejfarová, Ivana ; Sklenička, Václav ; Mayer, K. H.
The microstructure of high chromium martensitic steel TAF 650 was quantified by transmission electron microscopy and image analysis in virgin condition and after creep at 650řC for 4379 and 5888 h where marked decrease in time to fracture occurred. It is concluded that preferential recovery of regions without subgrains in virgin conditions and pronounced coarsening of Laves phase Fe2W, are responsible for an observed decrease in creep life.
