Causes of electoral success and failure of pirate parties
Vosátka, Petr ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Stauber, Jakub (referee)
This diploma thesis aims to identify the possible causes of the success of pirate parties in Iceland and the Czech Republic. The success is defined as entering the national parliaments. This was failed by pirate parties in Sweden and Germany despite their popularity. Thus, the work examines four political parties and four countries in which these parties are located. The purpose of the analysis is to find out what makes the successful parties different from the unsuccessful ones or what the successful parties have in common. Comparison of causes of attitudes of CSSD and SMER-SD to the migration crisis in Europe
Vosátka, Petr ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Gelnarová, Jitka (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to find the cause of different attitudes of CSSD and SMER-SD towards the European migration crisis. While the CSSD displays a certain degree of solidarity towards migrants, SMER-SD takes a strict refusal attitude in this issue. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the principles and historical development of the ideology of social democratic parties, as the basic common basis of both political parties. To demonstrate the attitudes of each party, official documents, press releases, or outputs in the media are used, as well as the views of selected party members. In order to find the ultimate cause of differences in parties attitudes, four selected independent variables related to migration are analyzed in the practical part. These are structures of voters of the surveyed parties; shares of foreigners in the countries of these parties; the level of public opinion on migration in those countries; history, tradition and access to migration in the history of both political parties.
