The attitude of Bavaria towards Czech Republic's accession to the European Union

The present bachelor thesis deals with the attitude of the Free State of Bavaria to the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union and compares it with the attitude of the Federal Republic of Germany. First the thesis explains attitudes of the Federal Republic on the basis of secondary literature, then it gives an overview of Bavarian foreign policy, its attitude towards the eastern enlargement and of the Czech-Bavarian relations after 1989. In its analytic part the thesis identifies topics relevant to Bavaria in the context of EU-accession of the Czech Republic. Then it describes the Bavarian attitude towards two selected topics, which are historical issues and economic effects of the Czech accession to the EU on Bavaria and especially on its border regions. In the last part the thesis compares Bavarian and German attitudes in the aforementioned as well as in other areas.
The Impact of the Grundtvig Programme on the Functioning of Further Education Institutions in the Czech Republic and on the services they provide

The thesis evaluates the impact of the Grundtvig programme on Czech further education institutions in the medium term. The first part presents the concept of further education as a soft factor of regional development and also the applied research methods. The next section presents the Czech and European lifelong learning strategies and the programme is shown as a part of the Lifelong Learning Programme and as one of the financial instruments of the EU. The main part of the paper presents the analysis of the use of the Grundtvig programme by the Czech institutions and the impacts on them assessed by a questionnaire survey among supported institutions. The work identified a major impact on the organizations in the area of know-how transfer from abroad, while in the area of networking or creation of innovative outputs identified impacts were minimal.
The Czech-German police cooperation in the EU

The Area of Freedom, Security and Justice is currently one of the most dynamically developing areas in the EU. One of its integral parts is police cooperation. This bachelor thesis is concerning the Czech-German police cooperation. The first part describes the legal and institutional framework for police cooperation in the EU, the second part analyzes involvement of the Czech Republic and Germany. The third part is focused on cross-border cooperation. The Czech and German police cooperation is mainly based on their membership in the Schengen system. Additionally, they both attend common projects within the EUROPOL. The Czech-German cross-border cooperation is working well and is often subsidized by European funds.
