Determination of the Stoichiometric Ratio of Iron Chelators by Job's Method
Staňová, Zuzana ; Mladěnka, Přemysl (advisor) ; Hašková, Pavlína (referee)
in English Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology Candidate: Zuzana Staňová, MSc. Consultanat: Přemysl Mladěnka, Ph.D. Title of Thesis: : Determination of the stoichiometric ratio of iron chelators by Job's method Iron is an important biogenic element affecting many biochemical reactions in the body. Its deficiency and excess cause pathophysiological changes in the organism. Excess of iron is very often the result of frequent blood transfusions in the treatment of hematologic diseases. It may also occur in iron metabolism disorders (chronic intoxication). Acute intoxication after ingestion of excessive amounts of iron is life threatening especially in children. Chelators are used to remove excess iron from the body. It is a heterogeneous group of substances capable of binding iron. Standard drug of this group is parenterally administered deferoxamine. Oral chelators (deferiprone, deferasirox) are also currently used. Other indications of these substances are now the subject of research, which investigates their potential benefits in cancer therapy and acute myocardial infarction. The pH changes play an important role in the pathogenesis of both mentioned conditions. In this work, the stoichiometric ratios of complexes of selected...
Zoological research on the Ponds of Hostivice National Sanctuary from the perspective of vertebrate zoology for primary and secondary schools
Čechová Stanová, Zuzana ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Vodička, Jaroslav (referee)
The core theme of the work is the suitability of the Ponds of Hostivice Nature Sanctuary for the teaching of vertebrate biology in Prague grammar and high schools. The goal was the creation of a course comprising of six excursions to the Ponds, each with a set of excercises focused on vertebrates commonly found in the area. Materials were gathered from literary recherché of the locality which covered the history of the Ponds' underlying system and its geological and botanical characteristics, together with close personal observation that took place betwen March 2005 and December 2007

Multi-speed European Union and its impacts on Slovakia
Stanová, Zuzana ; Sršeň, Radim (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
Multi-speed European Union is a very up-to-date topic especially in terms of the finance and debt crisis, which deepened the differences between member states' economies. Multi-speed integration is one of the ways how to satisfy the claims of all member states, respect their different socioeconomic conditions and interests and at the same time not to disturb the integration process. The objective of this thesis is to introduce the concept of multi-speed integration from different theoretical points of view, to outline its historical development and assess its positive and negative impacts on the EU as a whole and on Slovakia. The analysis of impacts of the Economic and Monetary Union's multi-speed character on Slovakia is the key part of this thesis. These impacts on Slovakia are both positive and negative, but some of them cannot be categorized in general. In the aggregate the positive impacts prevail.
Importance of the Visegrad Group for member states
Stanová, Zuzana ; Druláková, Radka (advisor) ; Cibulková, Petra (referee)
Nowadays, there are numerous regional and universal international organizations. The objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the importance of one of them, the Visegrad Group. The importance of the Visegrad Group is observed in term of fulfilling the functions of international organizations. This thesis introduces in the first (theoretical) part different typologies of functions of international organizations, other (analytical) parts of the thesis tie in with the theoretical one and provide short overview of some examples of (not) fulfilling the six observed functions. The Visegrad Group doesn't fulfil adequately all the observed functions, therefore it is also considered to be an international regime. Moreover, some of the functions are fulfilled by other international organizations, which the Visegrad Group member states are the members of. This fact waters down the importance of the Visegrad Group.
