The use of cognitive difficulty of learning tasks in the teaching of mathematics and geography at the level of the implemented curriculum

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of cognitive demands in teaching at the second level of elementary schools, respectively at the lower levels of multi-year grammar schools at the level of the implemented curriculum. Specifically, attention is focused on learning tasks in two subjects, mathematics and geography. The aim of the diploma thesis is to assess the importance of including learning tasks of different cognitive demands in teaching from the point of view of current curricular reforms, and then to evaluate the possibilities of using learning tasks of different cognitive demands in the real teaching of mathematics and geography in Czech schools. The discussion about cognitive demands when planning the composition of lessons, student activation and the creation of supplementary teaching materials and tests is verified by our own research in Czech schools. A questionnaire survey was conducted among the teachers of eight schools, which was supplemented by interviews on the given topic. As part of processing the diploma thesis, worksheets with tasks for mathematics and geography aimed at developing all cognitive skills in pupils were created based on the own taxonomy of cognitive goals.
