Acceptability of Common Czech Among Second-Grade Pupils at Two Primary Schools in the Frýdek-Místek District

The topic of the thesis entitled Acceptability of Common Czech among Second-Grade Pupils at Two Primary Schools in the Frýdek-Místek District is the examination of attitudes towards common Czech among second-grade primary school pupils. The aim of the thesis is to find out how pupils of primary schools in the Frýdek-Místek district perceive common Czech in communication situations with a higher communication function, with persons of a higher social status. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. In the theoretical part, the current Czech language situation is described, selected forms of the national language (common Czech, standard Czech, traditional territorial dialects) and basic terms (commonly spoken Czech, language attitudes) are explained, and current surveys of attitudes towards the language and language varieties are presented. The practical part brings the results of own research. Word Formation in Czech Language Textbooks for Grammar Schools

The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyse the topic of word-formation in Czech language textbooks for grammar schools. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the topic of word-formation - basic terminology, word formation means, especially composition with the focus on hybrid compound words and quasi-compound words. The theoretical part then introduces the fundamental curricular documents including the position and importance of the education content of the Czech language, introduces an innovative communicative approach in Czech language teaching and, last but not least, besides the revised Bloom taxonomy it also defines the role of textbooks in teaching and the possible criteria used for textbook evaluation. The practical part is introduced by establishing the method for the evaluation of the individual textbooks, followed by analysis. Afterwards, the research sample is briefly described. The respondents were, by means of a questionnaire, inquired about the process of teaching word-formation and use of Czech language textbooks in teaching. Anglicism in the Discourse of Lifestyle Influencers

This bachelor thesis focuses on anglicisms in the discourse of Czech lifestyle influencers. It is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes how English language and culture has affected Czech language. It also unveils the phonological, grammatical and word-forming adaptation principles. Finally, it defines the community of online content creators and the lifestyle category. The practical part analyses the collected anglicisms. The main focus is on the used adaptation principles. All of the lexical material has been extracted from recent (i.e. 2023, 2024) YouTube and TikTok posts. A dictionary with every collected anglicism is also included in this thesis.
Plural Variants Incidence of the Fourth Verbal Class of the Pattern "sází" in the Contemporary Czech Fiction

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to explore the use of Czech verb pattern "sázejí" and "sází" doublets in contemporary Czech fiction. The theoretical part provides a description of the historical development of the "sázet" pattern, describes the codification history of morphological variation, and describes the characteristics of the Czech fiction language sphere. The empirical part presents a sample of twelve Czech books and their editorial intervention habits. For each of these books, the characteristic language and sociolinguistic factors of the generation and the authors' regional origin are described. The hypotheses are set and presented based on the already existing research performed by Pavel Sojka, especially the research focusing on the prose of Bohumil Hrabal. Following the presentation of the individual results, the conclusion is presented and compared with the preceding research. This thesis confirms the competing tendencies of both variants as described by Sojka and further expands the mapped inter-paradigmatic balancing area by describing certain differences in the collected data. Manifestation of Deflectivization in Contemporary Czech - The Tendency Not to Inflect Some First Names in Connection With Surnames

This thesis deals with the issue of deflectivization in contemporary Czech, specifically the tendency not to inflect some first names in connection with surnames. The theoretical part focuses on the dynamics of the development of contemporary Czech, explains the concepts of norm and codification, describes variant forms in the language and clarifies the causes of language changes. He then defines a relatively new tendency - deflectivization and gives some specific examples of it. In connection with the non-declension of some names, it clarifies how such names should be inflected. The aim of the practical part is to compare the results of the questionnaire survey, which aims to find out to what extent deflectivization tendencies manifest themselves in the Czech population, with the results reported in the CNK and to evaluate whether or not there is a tendency to inflect these names prevailing. The Influence of Prague Dialect on Speech of Students From Zlín Area

This bachelor 's thesis focuses on the influence which can Prague Common Czech language have on students from the Zlin area who are staying in Prague for longer period. The first part of the work deals with the theory, especially with the theme of language varieties and the differences between them. The second part of the work is the empiric part, which consists of interviews with young students from the Zlin area. The interviews are led in such a way that the respondents do not know what exactly the subject matter is. The second part of the interview aims at the speakers' language reflection. All the interviews are recorded and transcribed. All the information crucial for this work is included in the transcriptions. The results of the empiric part partly confirm some theses which were established at the outset of the work. For example, that social interaction plays a significant role in the question of adaptation to the Common Czech. Results cannot be viewed as unequivocal, the conditions under which the interviews were made should be taken into consideration. What is more, the specific nature of each speaker should be considered too.
