Sasková, Marcela ; Smékalová, Monika (advisor) ; Svačinová, Petra (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Technology Supervisor: Mgr. Monika Smékalová, Ph.D. Consultant: MUDr. Michael Bartoš Student: Marcela Sasková Title of thesis: Characterization of material for gelatin-based ultrasound brain phantom This thesis deals with the characterization of the material for a gelatin-based ultrasound phantom, which will subsequently serve as a teaching aid for medical students to localize brain tumors and practice ultrasound imaging. In the experimental part, samples of gelatin gels cross-linked with glutaraldehyde at different concentrations of scattering particles and glycerol were prepared to measure the acoustic parameters (speed of sound and attenuation coefficient) and the gray scale of the imaging and to perform thermal analysis. Gelatin is an inexpensive, readily available, non-toxic material that is highly soluble in hot water, making it a suitable starting material for phantom preparation. SiC and Al2O3 particles (0,3 µm and 3 µm) can be used to increase the echogenicity of the gelatin-based gel. Thanks to the scattering particles, it was possible to vary the gray level of the image and the attenuation coefficient depending on their amount. The best results were achieved with SiC alone, where the gray...
Teaching writing by means of the Comenia Script handwriting font
Sasková, Marcela ; Wildová, Radka (advisor) ; Ronková, Jolana (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to introduce the reader to a new writing model Comenia Script and the results of its establishing during the first years of a school attendance. The theoretical part deals with a developement of a script, a characteristic of a cursive Latin alphabet writing and Comenia Script and a contemporary education of a first-year writing. In the practical part the findings gathered during the participant observation of the entrusted sample of respondents were analysed and the questionnaire survey focussed on attitudes of involved pupils' parents was evaluated.
Compliance with legislation by healthcare professionals in the ICU
Šašková, Marcela ; Tollarová, Blanka (advisor) ; Slanina, Petr (referee)
The topic of this diploma thesis is the compliance with legislation in an area of competencies of general nurses and special nurses working in intensive care units (ICU). The aim of the investigation was to map out, how nurses in the ICU comply with legislation in the area of their competencies and whether their work is influenced by anything. The results showed two trends - situation within a specific unit, that means whether nurses contravene their competencies; whether nurses are aware about their competencies and about competencies of doctors and in addition why nurses are contravening their competencies and what is the opinion of doctors on compliance of competencies for medical professionals, what is the position of management towards contravention of competencies by nurses . Furthermore, the situation overall, that means existence of further regulatory measures, which impact on the conduct of nurses within units. On the basis of those findings the following recommendations are made for leaders of department. The first part explains the legislation that relates to the topic of the work, description of the performance, overview of the management of quality system in health care. The analytic investigation part describes the process, result of investigation, and recommendations based on the...
