Design and optimisation of log rounding process
Iamshchikov, Evgenii ; Trgala, Kamil (advisor) ; Ruman, Daniel (referee)
The subject of my thesis is Design and optimisation of log rounding process. The aim of the work is to develop and explain the changes of the cutting tool parameters of a machine for logs rounding; experimental substantiation for the change of the cutter angle related to the axis of the workpiece. This paper deals with all kinds of wooden housing, from houses of solid wood to houses made of wood-based materials. The description of positive and negative characteristics of each type, including why a house made of logs is essentially different, its positive and negative sides. The paper examines all kinds of the logs rounding technology; the characteristics of their quality and energy consumption are presented. The experimental part of the work consists in the experiment planning and identifying of the factors that influence the rounding process. The way the cutter angle influences the surface roughness during the cylindering process was studied. The final stage of the work was to evaluate the results of the work, their relevance and the possibility to introduce the new equipment with the changed parameters of the cutting tool into production.
Creation of project documentacion for wood structures with Ekopanely® system
Ryba, Tomáš ; Ruman, Daniel (advisor) ; Trgala, Kamil (referee)
The author deals with a preliminary house price which has been calculated using a list of items and creates a partial project documentation. It is standard practice to make such a calculation of a building. The results of my work indicate that on the basis of the calculation the contract was secured and the partial project documentation of the house built using the Ekopanely board system was created. This documentation was used for getting a building announcement from the planning permission authority in Šimonovice. Furthermore, the paper contains compositions of frames designed using ideal materials, defined for building in the Ekopanely board system, for which the EKOPANELY SERVICE s.r.o. guaranties the functionality.
Influence of technological factors on the hardness of wood
Šafaříková, Lenka ; Gašparík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Ruman, Daniel (referee)
Focus of the diploma thesis is to investigate the influence of the selected factors (type of wood, thickness, densification) on the wood hardness. For the experimental measurements the Brinell hardness test method was used. The hardness measurements were performed on the specimens made from two different types of wood. Obtained results were statistically analyzed into the graphs. The main goal of the thesis was to determine the change in the static hardness in dependence on the previously mentioned factors. From the experimental data it can be seen that the wood hardness increases with the higher degree of densification . This phehomenon applies to both investigated wood materials which are European beech (Fagus sylvatica) - hardwood specimen and European aspen (Populus tremula) - softwood specimen.
The design and optimisation of timber structure of simple hall with span 13 meters
Fáber, Jiří ; Trgala, Kamil (advisor) ; Ruman, Daniel (referee)
The goal of this Thesis is to design a wooden supporting structure of a production hall based on requirements given by an investor and to compare possible design solutions. Theoretical first part of this thesis describes wooden structures in general, especially specifications of wood as a building material, basic designing rules, various types of material joints and constructions classification. In second part of this thesis two draft designs were created with RSTAB and TRUSS4 software and the optimal solutions is presented. Valid Czech and EU standards were followed in design creation and calculation.
Laminated wood-based composites with using non-wood materials
Pechar, Vojtěch ; Gašparík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Ruman, Daniel (referee)
This paper is about using non-wood materials in combination with laminated or differently combinated wood materials and observes interaction between those materials during tests. In paper there is comparison between wood-based materials with non-wood materials and its evaluation. Paper describes combination these materials and describes behavior between them.
Production of laminated elements used for supporting structures in wooden buildings
Englický, David ; Ruman, Daniel (advisor) ; Trgala, Kamil (referee)
This Bachelor thesis deals with creation of improved wood parts and their usage in the concept of bearing constructions in wood structures. I will cover the division of the improved wood parts, the process of their manufacture, the utilization of such parts and their price. By the end of this thesis, I will provide a comparison between the international and domestic manufacturers. This comparison was made based on the capacity of their manufacture.
Rheological characteristics of untreated and thermally modified wood under long-term loading in bending
Berková, Tereza ; Borůvka, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Ruman, Daniel (referee)
Heat-treatment belongs to the most ecological methods of wood preservation methods and increase of its natural stability in exposition to outdoor conditions. Research of mechanical properties opens new possibilities of thermowood usage in general. Wood appertains to viscoelastic materials and due to long-term loading creeps. There currently rise both elastic deformation, deformation elastic in time and plastic deformation. Partially there are irreversible changes due to stress even after unloading. This work presents first insight to the matters of thermowood rheology and inspects its behavior under long-term loading in bending. This paper compares ratio of these three types of deformation in untreated wood and thermally modified wood in seven different temperatures (140; 160; 180; 190; 200, 210°C). The samples were exposed to 600 hours applied loading covering 40% of ultimate stress (modulus of rapture). Test were performed under constant conditions in special creep units in conditioning kiln. Increasing deformation under constant load was analyzed by Burger rheological model. The results show that samples treated under lower temperatures (140 and 160°C) exhibit greater creep than untreated wood. This result is positive for structural usage of wood. On the other hand the samples treated under higher temperatures levels (200 an 210°C) display deterioration of mechanical properties. This is due to changes in wood structures caused by heat-treatment. The most important impact of this work goes to future research of this field. Next development has to apply for the best quality of samples and also select rather prismatic parallelism than transversal one. Also application of 40% ultimate stress loading appeared as too high and together with wood defects led to destruction of samples.
Manufacture of wooden frame into Old English furniture.
Špalek, Jan ; Gaff, Milan (advisor) ; Ruman, Daniel (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the production of wooden frames into the Old English furniture. The aim is thematically coherent handle the technological process for the production of the wooden frames in company Jan Špalek Rámařství. Assess the current state of production and on the basis lessons learned suggest possible improvements. We chose one representative product, which is one of the most produced. We described technological production method on the basis of experience with the production. According to the technological method of production and description of current state of the company, we think about the shortcomings. After finding these shortcomings, we dealt with the proposal of new possible solutions that the company could use for innovation.
