The relationship between Pathological Buying and Materialism in paramedical staff: correlation survey

Resources: The topic of this Master's thesis is oniomania, or in other words, pathologic shopping and how it is affected by an individual's materialistic value orientation. Pathologic shopping refers to an unmanageable urge to buy something, to order, to own a thing. For the needs of this thesis, materialism is understanded as the conviction that gaining material goods is the ultimate life goal, main index of success and key to happiness. Based on the research, materialism is considered to be a significant predictor of oniomania. Aims and methodology: The main aim of this thesis was to describe the relationship between pathologic shopping and materialism. Then prevalence of pathologic shopping was further detected in the focus group which consisted solely of non-medical health care staff as well as the prevalence of age and income. The research also focused on circumstances and consequences of pathological shopping. 853 respondents participated in this correlation research based on data gained from the survey. Influence of TV series on the perception of a nurse's profession

The topic of this bachelor thesis is "The influence of TV series on perception of a nurse profession". Its aim is to find out how TV series and media in general affect the view of laic public on the work of nurses. It is dealing with how nurses are portrayed in series and how the audience perceive this media image. If they believe that series characters and situations correspond to real life or if they are aware of the fact, that It is biased view of cine-camera. In a theoretical part of the thesis basic terms are designated, such as a general nurse, a professionality and nursing, as well as mass media and their influence on forming of public opinion, terms like TV series, genre, soap opera, medical drama etc. Following chapters are dedicated to individual TV series, Czech and foreign, and the way how the profession of nurse is portrayed in those. The last chapters deal with the history of nursing related to a uniform of nurses and how the uniforms of nurses are portrayed in TV series. In an empiric part the aims and hypotheses of the thesis are formulated. Then a methodology of the research is described, followed by evaluation of a survey, which is depicted even via charts and graphs.
