Family with a child with Down Syndrome
POVOLNÁ, Dagmar
The issue of people with Down syndrome is still a current topic. Knowledge of the problems of families with a child with Down syndrome is still small and very confusing for the public. With this work I would like to present the problems of families with children with Down syndrome, which are known from the literature and which result from the research part of my work. The problems of given families can be different and the same at the same time. Every family copes differently with the fact that their child will be born with a disability. The literature describes several types of coping with the birth of a child with a disability. Every person is different and this problem can affect him differently, someone will cope with it more easily and others may not come to terms with it at all. The main goal of the bachelor thesis is to find out what problems families with children with Down syndrome have, which they have to deal with in everyday life. A partial goal of the bachelor's thesis is to find out whether the problems of families with children with Down syndrome coincide or not. The theoretical part of the thesis contains a theoretical definition of the family and a theoretical definition of Down syndrome. The theoretical definition of the family includes parts such as family functions, family types and characteristics and problems of the current family. We learn how we can characterize the family. Here we learn what functions the family should perform and how these functions are important for the child, as well as what types of families there are. In the next chapter, we find out what problems the modern family deals with. In the part of the theoretical definition of Down syndrome we learn what Down syndrome is. Throughout history, we learn about who invented the term Down Syndrome and when. We also find out the causes of Down syndrome and its diagnosis. We characterize the forms of Down syndrome. We determine the characteristics for children with Down syndrome, and what is the number of children who have this syndrome. We have a clear overview of what health problems children with Down syndrome may have and also what degree of mental disability they may have. We also find out what effects the birth of a child with Down syndrome may have on the family. We find out what parenting options parents of children with Down syndrome have fortheir children. We define which phases of coping we have. An equally important part is what are the possibilities of helping the families of children with Down syndrome, which can be provided by the state but also by non-governmental non-profit organizations. For the research part of my work I used a qualitative research strategy. I used the method of questioning and the technique of guided interview. The research part is divided into two parts, the first part, which consists of interviews with parents (mothers) of children with Down syndrome and the second part, which consists of interviews with siblings of children with Down syndrome. To process and interpret the data from my research, I used "coding", which I applied in the framework analysis. A research sample of parents and siblings of children with Down syndrome is presented here, with whom an interview was conducted after signing informed consent. To record the interviews, I used tables in which I summarized the indexed data from the framework analysis. At the end of the work we learn about the problems of families with children with Down syndrome, and how these problems differ. My bachelor's thesis presents the problems that families with children with Down syndrome deal with. It can serve the general public to learn about the problems of families with children with Down syndrome.
Family with a child with Down Syndrome
POVOLNÁ, Dagmar
The problematics of people with Down syndrome is still a currant topic. The knowlegde of problems of the families, which have a child with Down syndrome, is still small and confused for public. With this work I would like to introduce the problems of families with children with Down syndrome, which are known from the literature and which will follow from my research part. The problems of the families can vary and also coincide. Every family is different in the way of dealing with the fact that their child was born with a disability. Professional literature describes several types of coping with the birth of a disabled child. Every person is different and this problem can be different for him, somebody will deal with it more easily and another may not accept it at all. The main aim of this thesis is to find out what problems families with children with Down syndrome have, which they have to solve in everyday life. The partial aim of this thesis is to find out whether the problems of families of children with Down syndrome match or not. The theoretical part of the thesis contains the theoretical definition of the family and the theoretical definition of Down syndrome. The theoretical definition of the family includes a part of family development, family functions and characteristics and problems of the current family. We learn how we can characterize a family. In the development of the family, we learn how the family has evolved over the years, what the family looked like in ancient times and how it looks today. We learn here what functions a family is supposed to fulfill and how important these functions are for the child. In the next chapter we find out what problems the current family is dealing with. In the theoretical definition of Down's syndrome, we learn what Down's syndrome is. In history, we learn about who and when invented Down's syndrome. We also investigate the causes of Down syndrome and its diagnosis. We characterize what forms of Down syndrome we have. We determine the characteristics of children with Down syndrome and the number of children who have this syndrome. We have a clear overview of what health problems children with Down syndrome may have and what degree of mental disability they may have. We also find out what the birth of a child with Down syndrome can mean for a family. We find out what possibilities of upbringing and education parents of children with Down syndrome have for their children. Equally important is the possibilities of helping families with children with Down syndrome, which can be provided by the state but also by non-governmental non-profit organizations. For the research part of my work I used a qualitative research strategy. I used the interviewing technique and the technique of guided interview. The research part is divided into two parts - the first part, which consists of interviews with parents (mothers) of children with Down syndrome and the second part, which consists of interviews with siblings of children with Down syndrome. To process and interpret my research data, I used the "coding" I applied in the framework analysis. There is presented a research sample of parents and siblings of children with Down syndrome, with whom an interview was conducted after the informed consent was signed. To record the interviews, I used tables to summarize the indexed data from the framework analysis. In the conclusion we learn about the problems of families with children with Down syndrome and how these problems differ. My bachelor thesis presents the problems to which families with children with Down syndrome have to face. It can serve the general public to learn about the problems of families with children with Down syndrome.
The current level of research determinants of health by immigrants in the Czech Republic and in Europe
POVOLNÁ, Dagmar
I chose the topic of this thesis because of but also because of bad opinions of the people around me about migration as a problem. The main target of this work is to find out what areas within health determinants among immigrants haven´t been investigated for past 5 years in the Czech Republic and Europe. This target is important for possibilities of further researches of health determinants among immigrants. It may help to researchers with the topic which hasn´t been investigated in past years and there is the opportunity to do so. In the research part of this diploma thesis was selected quantitative method where the technique was comparative metaanalysis. Analysis will be done from available databased journals (Scopus, Pub-med) and available Czech journals (non-databased). The time limit was set on 5 years. In the databases Scopus and Pub-med was searched according to following criterions social determinants of health, immigrants, Europe, Czech Republic with the time limit 5 years of those articles. Contribution of this work is finding out which social determinants of health weren´t investigated at all, which is transport and stress in Europe. In the Czech Republic weren´t any researches executed on stress, childhood, unemployment, nutrition and transport. My diploma thesis contributes further possibilities of investigating for future researchers in investigations which haven´t been done yet.
Care about staff in social services
POVOLNÁ, Dagmar
The aim of this thesis is to specify basic requirements on employee care in social services on the basis of specialized literature and valid legislation study. A theoretical part of this thesis includes mandatory, contractual and voluntary employee care and employee assessment and rewarding. There are interviews with employees from two organizations providing social services in a research part. I define what the social service is and introduce a basic source of social services at the beginning of the theoretical part, The Act on social services. The Labour Code determines mandatory employee care. It is a fundamental source for the Labour Law. I introduce in the contractual are the labour union organizations and their contribution to employees in an organization. Another part refers to care which an employer provides voluntarily. The last part in the theoretical part is the employee assessment and rewarding. I notify that a qualitative research strategy was used at the beginning of the research part. In the final conclusion of the thesis I find out that employee care in Laguna Psáry Home and Home Na Hrádku is very similar and varies only in details. My Bachelor thesis can serve as a feedback for directors in both organizations.
