Author: Bc. Veronika Stejskalová Supervisor: PhDr. Jitka Malá, PhD. Title: Comparison of the Effect of Ultrasound Therapy and High-Power Laser Therapy on the Treatment of Heel spur Objectives: This master's thesis examines and compares the effectiveness of high-power laser therapy with therapeutic ultrasound in the treatment heel spur. Heel spur is a painful condition associated with irritation of the plantar fascia, often leading to restricted mobility and reduced quality of life for patients. The aim of this study is to analyse how these two treatment approaches affect the course of the disease. We expect that this study will provide useful insights into whether high-power laser therapy is effective in treating plantar fasciitis and contribute to a better understanding and improvement of treatment protocols for this condition. Methods: A total of 30 subjects meeting the inclusion criteria were included in the experiment and randomly assigned to two groups. Evaluative parameters included the visual analog scale for pain, range of motion in dorsiflexion at the ankle joint, modified Timed Up and Go Test, and the WHO 5 Well-Being Index. Testing was conducted prior to initial therapy, after the final therapy session, and 6 weeks after the last therapy session. To assess the effectiveness of laser...

Dobešová, Petra ; Malá, Jitka (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Title: The Affinity of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and Chronic Finger Pain in Climbers Objectives: To determine possible affinity between thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) and chronic finger pain in climbers by comparing the occurrence of TOS among climbers with chronic finger pain, climbers without chronic finger pain, and non-climbers. Methods: Sixty-six participants of both genders aged 18-40 were included in the study. Based on the initial questionnaire, they were divided into three groups: climbers with chronic finger pain, climbers without chronic finger pain, and non-climbers. The homogeneity of the groups based on quantitative characteristics was assessed using an ANOVA test. All study participants were examined using the same examination protocol for the presence of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). The examination protocol consisted of three questions about clinical symptoms, five examination tests, and palpation of the scalene and pectoralis minor muscles. A positive finding of TOS was defined as a positive result of 60 % or more of the examination protocol tests. The frequency of positive TOS findings was subsequently compared between the group of climbers with chronic finger pain, climbers without chronic finger pain, and non- climbers. Furthermore, the frequency of positive results was...

vi Abstract Title: Ultrasonographic comparison of the size of the cross-sectional area of the long head biceps brachii tendon in overhead athletes and non-competitive women Aims: This study aimed to compare the cross-sectional area (CSA) size of the long head biceps tendon (LHBT) and the prevalence of positive functional tests for LHBT lesions in volleyball and handball players compared to a control group of young, non-sporting women. This study aims is to determine whether overhead female athletes, specifically female handball and volleyball players, experience a reduction in the size of the cross- sectional area of this tendon due to many years of regular sports activity. Furthermore, This study aims to determine the prevalence of positive functional tests for LHBT in both groups and subsequently to confirm or refute the correlation between a possible reduction in the size of the CSA of the biceps long head tendon in female overhead athletes and the positivity of functional tests. Methods: This research is an observational experiment. Theoretical knowledge was drawn from available Czech and foreign literature sources written in Czech, English and German. 39 probands selected based on selection and exclusion criteria participated in the experimental part of the research.According to the set research...

Effect of effluent from wastewater treatment plants on karst rivers
Schrimpelová, Kateřina ; Gruberová, Eva (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (advisor)
Karst rivers are special type of rivers because of their hydrography conditions. They usually flow from non-karst area and as soon as they reach in to the karst area they disappear underground. There, they flow through cavities until they reach the surface again. The aim of this thesis is to assess the impact of water outflow from wastewater treatment plant on karst rivers. The study was done in the central area of CHKO Moravský kras where the impact of two WWTP on a cave system Rudické propadání – Býčí skála is evaluated. As a part of this study a half-year monitoring was carried out, which consisted of water sampling once every two weeks. In total, 13 water samples were taken from 8 sampling points. Also 4 additional one-time samples were taken from the cave system. Moreover, flow rate, temperature, conductivity, oxygen concentration and pH were measured at the sampling point. Afterwards, the content of undissolved solids, CODCr, BOD, N-NH4+, N-NO2-, N-NO3-, P-PO43- and total phosphorus were determined in the samples. The change of parameters in time and during the flow in the river was observed from the measured values. The balance of pollutants in particular parts of the river was calculated. The outflow values from waste water treatment plants were compared to the emission limits for surface waters and the parameters of rivers were compared to the environmental quality standards. According to the results, it can be observed that the water quality improves after passing through the cavities. It was proven that the outflows from the observed waste water treatment plants are negatively influencing the water streams. The most serious problem is the wash up of sludge from WWTP Rudice and its consequent sedimentation in the river and/or outflow to the Rudické propadání.
