Terrorist attack as a newscast narrative Diploma thesis Bc. Martin Mažári Abstract: Media coverage, news included, are structured in specific narratives influencing the way media inform about the types of events that happen - such as terrorist attacks, which became inseparable part of the public and media space in the new millennium. As these attacks gradually happened to be a regular part of our lives, the medial narrative of the newscast telling their story evolved. This diploma thesis strives to narratively analyze five of the important terrorist attacks from the last two decades with the method of reconstructing the story from the narration and to show the story, as it unfolded in five influential Czech media. The result of the analysis is finding that while some elements in the narratives became adamant in it while others developed or even disappeared. A firm part of the narratives nonetheless are archetypes and mythical characters, which appear in the stories of mankind since the very beginning of storytelling and can be found in any newscast topics - including the terrorist attacks.
