Parental care in crocodylians with an emphasis on acoustic communication between parent and young
Míka, Milan ; Frýdlová, Petra (advisor) ; Sedláček, Ondřej (referee)
Parental care for offspring encompasses a variety of behaviors aimed at increasing the offspring's survival rate. However, as the care of the offspring requires a lot of energy it raises a conflict between the parents. It would be more advantageous for each parent to leave a larger portion of parental care to the other. This would reduce the costs associated with care while increasing the success of gene transmission through offspring. This bachelor thesis describes parental care in several selected groups of animals. It reports the most common forms of parental care in these groups and, through individual examples, points out more complex or unusual forms and types of reproductive behavior. Examples are selected with consideration of similarities or differences with parental care in crocodiles. In the second part of this work, I focus on the order of Crocodylia, where parental care and acoustic communication are key elements of reproductive behavior and often determine the lives of crocodile offspring. I highlight similarities between crocodiles and their closest relatives, birds (Aves). Emphasis is placed on the analogy between crocodiles and birds and my observations suggest possibilities of ancestral behavior for the order Crocodylia and the entire group Archosauria. The result of the work is a...
Biodegradable bones implants based on Fe
Tkáčová, Tereza ; Míka, Martin (referee) ; Sedlaříková, Marie (advisor)
This thesis writes about biodegradable bone implants based on iron. The currently used metal-based implants have disadvantage in an often need of secondary surgery intervention to remove the implant. Therefore, there is a big research of biodegradable bone implants nowadays. In this work, iron-based materials with the addition of zinc and magnesium are being investigated. The produced samples have been immersed in a solution of NaCl and simulated body fluid, SBL. Subsequently there were regularly analysed changes of corrosion potential, pH, conductivity and also weight loss was watched.
Nanofibrous Separators for Lithium-Ion Batteries
Pléha, David ; Míka, Martin (referee) ; Janderka,, Pavel (referee) ; Novák, Vítězslav (advisor)
Nanofibrous separators use in lithium-ion batteries brings many advantages. In contrast to contemporary used commercial separators, nanofibrous ones exhibit higher temperature resistance, ionic conductivity and higher electrolyte uptake. Better ionic conductivity is ensured by porous structure and large specific surface. Fibers creates channels for the ionic species motion. Amorphous texture of nanofibers allows quick lithium ionic species motion within the polymeric matrix of separator. Furthermore, these separators exhibit higher volume of uptaken electrolyte. Further advantage of electrospinned nanofibrous separators are both high porosity and chemical stability.
Subject Falling out of a Situation
Míka, Matyáš ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Švec, Ondřej (referee)
This work juxtaposes Michel Foucault's late thought on the issue of the subject and Jan Císař's thought on theatre as communication. Its objective is to outline the possibility to understand individual self-care as propaedeutics to the communication with others through one's own act. What follows after explaining the positions of both authors, is an analysis of the subject's situation and the subject's act from the position of Foucault's ethics and through the event nature of theatrical communication. Since Foucault's and Císař's thought does not naturally result in an integrated theatrological/philosophical concept, the final chapter presents a possible solution of the controversial issues consisting in going beyond the two concepts discussed with the help of Friedrich Nietzsche's early texts and of Ivan Vyskočil's dialogue acting.

Produkce IL-1? a IFN? po stimulaci mléčné žlázy lipopolysacharidem
Míka, Matěj
This thesis was focused on the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1beta and IFN-gamma. Absolute and differential leukocyte count was also monitored. The experiment was conducted at 8 clinically healthy heifers, hybrids of Holstein and Czech Pied that have been housed by tethering in stalls and fed with a standard diet. The inflammatory reaction was induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS; 5 ug in 20 ml PBS), as a control a phosphate buff-ered saline (PBS) was used. Results were measured at 1, 2, 3 and 7 days after stimulation of mammary gland by above-mentioned factors. Concentration of each cytokine was detected by a sandwich ELISA using commercially available kits. At 1 day after stimulation of mammary gland by LPS and PBS an average number of leukocytes, which was statistically significantly higher in the case of stimulation by LPS (P <0.01), was detected. After 7 days there was a significant decrease in the total number of leukocytes. There has also been a shift in the differential leukocyte count. Most abundant cell type were neutrophils, whose number was higher in the case of stimulation by LPS. Between day 1 and day 7 after challenge, there was a gradual reduction in the proportion of neutrophils. In the same period an increase in the proportion of macrophages and lymphocytes was detected. Concentration of IL-1beta also increased, 1 day after the activation a striking increase has been detected. In following days there was gradual decline of IL-1beta concentration almost to the level prior to treatment of the mammary gland. In the case of IFN-gamma similar pattern in the form of strong growth and a subsequent gradual decline in concentration to the original values was detected. There was found positive correlation between the increase in IL-1beta and IFN-gamma concentration and a shift in the differential leukocyte count in favor of neutrophils, which confirmed the important role of these pro-inflammatory cytokines in the establishment of inflammatory response and the mobilization of the components of natural and specific immunity.
Fish passes and their role in landscape and ecosystem management
Míka, Martin ; Horký, Pavel (advisor) ; Kuříková, Pavlína (referee)
Fishways are devices intended to restore fish migration through the transverse obstacles in fragmented flows. Basic types of fish passages can be divided into technical and close to nature. Technical as cellular or crevice between the close to nature can include, for example, a bypass channel or boulder ramps. Close to nature fishways are suitable not only for Migration wider range of species and the size of fish, but they are preferable as landscape elements in urban landscapes. Can be recommended to be close to nature when crossing streams fragmented preferred, although not necessarily their use, for example, due to space constraints at a particular location possible.
Application of Former Professional Players of e-sports on the Labour Market
Lipták, Martin ; Kaczor, Pavel (advisor) ; Míka, Michal (referee)
This bachelor work is focused on the topic of e-sport and former professional players of e-sport. It deals with a summery and subsequent analysis of former professional e-sport players in the labour market. The theoretical part is focused on becoming acquainted with basic information on e-sport, the labour market, re-training and the national employment policy. It provides basic information about companies and games that they operate. The practical part analyses the concrete possibilities of former e-sport players in the labour market, while at the same time providing the thoughts of these players on the given issues. It aims to analyse and evaluate the specific options of these players.
