Kundrát, Jan ; Randák, Jan (advisor) ; Pácha, Martin (referee)
(in English): The presented diploma thesis deals with the topic of Prague housing estate Jižní Město II (South City II), its visions, projecting and realization. It examines approaches to the creation of a residential environment, changes in opinions and ideas of ideal living, from the perspective of the architects. It analyses these aspects in the period from the 1970s to the 1990s, examining how the phenomenon of creating housing estates changed in these periods. This work analyses the selected topics on the basis of archival materials of an architectural origin, architectural magazines in which architects published at that time, as well as professional literature. Mass housing constructing with the aim of quick and effective solution of the housing crisis was accompanied by the typification and standardization of construction elements and the industrialization of the construction industry as such. IMAP E-mail Client
Kundrát, Jan ; Babka, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Peterka, Jiří (referee)
This thesis describes the implementation of an advanced IMAP e-mail client, Trojita. Focusing on standards compliance, the client supports a wide range of IMAP features crucial for an efficient implementation such as IDLE notifications, server-side message parsing and caching of retrieved body data for offline operation. Connecting to the IMAP server is supported over TCP sockets, optionally secured via the TLS encryption, as well as through a local process. Basic message composition and sending via both SMTP and a local sendmail instance is supported. The target platform is the Qt framework on Linux, but the application is reasonably portable.
IMAP extension for mobile devices
Kundrát, Jan ; Peterka, Jiří (advisor) ; Spousta, Miroslav (referee)
With the mass availability of smartphones, mobile access to e-mail is gaining importance. Over the years, the IMAP protocol has been extended with many features ranging from extensions adding new functionality to those improving efficiency over an unreliable network. This thesis evaluates the available extensions based on their suitability for use in the context of a mobile client. Three new extensions have been developed, each improving the protocol in a distinct way. The thesis also discusses how most of these extensions were implemented in Trojitá, the author's free software open source IMAP e-mail client.
Planning and Building of Jižní Město
Kundrát, Jan ; Randák, Jan (advisor) ; Rychlík, Jan (referee)
(in English): This bachelor thesis describes the planning and building of Jižní Město (South City), the biggest Czech housing panel estate. This Prague housing estate set was complexly projected as a self- sufficient city which would provide its inhabitants besides various types of housing also job opportunities, all civic amenities, recreation or cultural activities. This work aims to analyse these ambitious plans and illustrate the then ideas of ideal housing, city and place to live, based on the Jižní Město project. Then the text of the thesis tries to compare and confront the original ideas of Jižní Město with their realized form and thus show in which compromises the initial ideals materialized. Furthermore, the work describes what the implementation of plans in practice encountered, how the construction took place, by what it was affected and why there were changes compared to the plans of architects. Based on this, the work tries to clarify which actors participated in the planning and building and who decided on the realization or non- realization of architectural plans.
